Since I've been rather lacking in icon making creativity, I've been working on making banners for some of my longer fanfics.

I made this last night for Both Sides of the Medal. Quite proud of it, since I've finally learnt how to use layer masks! Hooray! =)

The background is a map, is it not? At least it looks that way ... can't tell of where, though. It's a beautiful banner, and I loved that fic. (I'm just a lazy commenter ... ) The font you used is gorgeous.

It is indeed a map! Of London. =)

Thank you! I am particularly fond of this font. It's called "Jane Austen-Secrets"

Yes it is a map of London! Good on you!

And Hornblower is in black and white because he's a monochrome character next to dear Jack, of course.
Ummmmm...no...... well not exactly *g*
It's more sort of contrasting the lives of these two characters whom we see in canon. Jack is someone who's had more than his share of misfortune whereas Hornblower, we don't REALLY see him suffer all that much. Also, this is technically "Jack's story" and Hornblower is watching the events unfold like a ghost.

*backs away slowly*
Sorry to disappoint you, I haven't got any bloodhounds with me at the moment. Save your energy okay? =)

Huzzah for your ability to use layer masks!

Let me say I like your banner as much as I liked your story. HH is b/w? Jack looks gorgeous with his tiny teacup in hand, while I see that young HH seems a more modern officer than JA. *g*

The background is a map, and like feroxargentea I hazard that it is the city of London because that is where your story is set.
