Hornblower Fic: A Few Glorious Seconds

Plot bunnies ahoy! I've had this idea since last night, but despite the fact that I don't really had time to write fic I had to write this to the detriment of Genetics.

This is my first slash story, so please be gentle. =)

*wibble* I don't know if all of that's *my* FC, but you conveyed it very well. And, yes, considering the situation, it's no surprise that Bush is hounded by his own demons, nor that Hornblower is so dogged by his own that he fails to notice.

Thank you! I see FC as a sort of turning point for both their characters. In my universe, it's when they finally admitted the feelings they have for each other and acted upon then - there's enough hints in CSF's writing to support it if I squint hard enough. =)

How ironic that having worked with timber all his life and knowing their secrets intimately, it has now become an undeniable extension of himself.
...Oh the dull burn of this! I'm right in the midst of reading this part of Flying Colours and you've captured the gorgeous, heartbreaking-ness of it.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it - Flying Colours is my favourite novel and Bush damn near broke my heart in it.
