Welcome, Mr. President

I'll write a big post later, because it's late, I've had a long day, and TDS is going to be live tonight and it's on in 15 minutes. But, I will say that today I was lucky enough to see the 44th president sworn into office, and even luckier to on Pennsylvania Ave., but inside, with warmth and food and bathrooms. I was also lucky enough to have an ( Read more... )

They are adorable! I can't remember the last time we had a presidential couple who acted like they liked each other, much less were in love with each other. Of course, the last inauguration I really remember watching was Bill Clinton's first, and I was nine at the time.

Very true. The only thing I remember from Bill Clinton's first inaugural ball is that he played the saxaphone. I don't remember any dancing.

Oh, I'm so glad you guys had a good time! So fantastic. Hey, maybe I saw you on CNN--we watched part of the parade when we got home.

I leave you with one more image - this was going down to the train, at Metro Center, by 12th and G Streets:

OY. We ended up avoiding the Metro completely, which I think was for the best. The guy in our party who had a ticket *did* have to take the Metro, and he actually missed the ceremony because he just couldn't get there through all the people (even though he left himself nearly four hours to do so). Crazy!

Maybe you did! There was a guy on the roof of the buiding across the street from us (where Fago de Chao is) with a video camera. I was wondering if he was filming us.

The Metro was actually ok. There was a crowd at the escalators, obviously, but that's because they shut them off to avoid any collisions downstairs. the blue and orange lines were packed, and our train was crowded, but really not bad. And it was fast, too. We got back in like, 25 minutes.

Wow, that's awesome. I can't wait to hear the details! The picture of the Metro is insane.

I'll post more pics today or tomorrow.
The metro was really only insane (for my line anyway - the red line) on the escalators. They shut them off to avoid collisions downstairs. Smart. (Seriously.)
