Xander's been talking in his sleep again. This morning he was semi-singing a song. "Here come the cowss...an chhickensss... anna pigs *SNORT

My son's name is Alexander, too. I fought and fought to call him Xander (which was my evil plan all along, muwahaha!) but my family wasn't having it. Alas.
Xander is 5 years old. "Xander" was the only boy name my husband and I were agreed on 100% (actually it's the only name PERIOD, girls names were a mess the first time around!) I stressed out so bad picking a name for my kids, such a HUGE decision! And I was so unsure when he was born that I thought we should cal him Alexander. That way he has options down the road. And also because he can get personalized key chains in gift shops this way! My daughter Piper will not be so lucky there ;)
I have family members who, for whatever reason still call him Alexander. If they don't like 'Xander' they've never said anything. Doesn't bother me :)
Has he always been this willing to converse with you, or has it come with age? (or is there a trick?) I ask because Simon will NOT engage in conversation with me unless it's his idea (big surprise since everything is his way or no way!) so we typically can't have conversations about anything "real" - just about what he's playing. Which is fine, and good, but I also want him to tell me about his day, y'know? :)
No he hasn't, and actually, Simon sounds nearly identical to how Xander was at that age. Which is why I get so excited by everything he says NOW. We still have to pull teeth to get him to tell us about his day. I have to like TRICK him into it. "So for snack... you had dirt and shoelaces right? "NO MOMMY!! We had goldfish crackers and I spilled my juice and then..." and it's off from there. Getting a real dialogue out of him is like striking oil for me :) I'm sure Simon will come around too.
