Are these two issues (Dean's PTSD, Sam's choice) ever addressed again? The only hollow feeling is that the plot seems to have marched on.Sam's choice... there are still consequences. He just made a damn big mess of things, after all. And not just on the releasing Lucifer front, obviously ( ... )

I'm glad there are personal consequences for Sam. That's something the show has faltered on, regarding his choices. But then, both boys get off for bad behavior by sympathetic monologues about how their lives suck. They're generally harder on Dean than on Sam, until this season, so I'll be interested to see how it goes. Hopefully not same story, different verse.

Also, we all know how Jensen is about maintaining character continuity.

His interpretation has been crucial in selling that storyline.

Wasn't that payoff glorious?

YES. YESSSS. \o/

I hear you. And honestly... even in S5 I think Sam gets off a little lightly in certain regards. BUT. There ARE consequences, it is a complicated situation the Winchesters find themselves in, and part of the reason why he gets off a bit lightly in the long run is because of bigger picture concerns the characters themselves have to face. Also -- there are different facets to Sam looking in the mirror, it's not all about "punish Sam for screwing up, yada yada". So. Whatever that's worth. And now I really am shutting up before I get into spoiler turf.
