Thesis Topics

Alright. So I've been thinking a good deal about Thesis Topics, and I've narrowed things down. Figured I'd put up a public rambling about where my thoughts are, just to see if someone braindrops something that could cause me to sit up and go "OOOOOooooooooh." It's happened before. Ok, if you take on that first one, you really, really need to investigate EVE Online...

But as you said, it is a bit of the easy option, and you NEVER go that route. :)

Easy? Wassat?

Most MMORPGs produce good examples of communities or micronations. But they tend to be driven by the mechanic of the game. The PW I'm looking at working in, on the other hand, is a social network, rather than a game, so it has a different focus for its groups.

Yeah, but EVE is kind of unique when it comes to social communities. This is partly due to the fact that EVE only has a single server for all of its hundreds of thousands of accounts (they've peaked at something over 50,000 simultaneous people logged in at the same time). This creates single environment that is shared by a lot of people, leading to a much social environment than the typical game ( ... )

Don't blame you. From what I've heard it is a pretty good one. I'm just planning on skipping on games in general and going straight to a social networking site with graphics interface.

(Which, since I cant resist the urge to play the brinksmanship game, I shall point out that the one I'm using typically has 70,000 at a time... one server. XD )
