Seoul Trip, Part One (서울 여행, 파트 하나)

Aug 21, 2019 20:59

It is very, very strange to think that a trip we planned and looked forward to for so long is now over and done with. O.o Also, writing this up was weird because my perception of time when this was all happening was skewed, due to the fact that we were packing so much in every day. Events that seemed to happen “awhile ago” was only the day before, ( Read more... )

OMG you leave poor Chimmy alone you monster. HE DID HIS LITTLE PUPPY BEST OKAY.

My biggest regret in life is not getting those Koya pajamas. What a fool I was.

I completely forgot to write about the garbage/recycling situation in the journal (I guess I can still put it in later, along with all the other stuff I forgot and then randomly remembered after it was too late); I think I just got so used to it at some point that it wasn't worth mentioning in my notes.

What's even stupider about those people wanting the discounted ticket fee at Gyeongbukgong -- W6,000 was for BOTH of us. So a single ticket was W3,000.

Hahaha I forgot about the bonus fry.

Oh dude I thought that shopkeep lady was easily in her 50s lololol. Perhaps both she and I just didn't want to be the eonni and invented extra age for each other.

I am thoroughly enjoying us being represented by Tata and Chimmy.

The garbage stuff was so frustrating to me that I could not forget it.

OMG re the pricing. I'm sure you've told me that before but I must've blocked it because that is even MORE INSANE. That's like a savings of $1. OMG.

Haha let's meet in the middle and say she was in her 40s, I guess. But even if she was younger, like I thought, I still felt it was weird she was so sure she was the younger one. Which goes back to our theory that "eonni" in those situations is kind of maybe the new "emu."

Okay so I have almost no idea what you were talking about most of the time but I still enjoyed reading this and looking at the pictures. 😉

Haha oh no, really? I thought I was doing so well with explanations. LOL

Well if there's anything I can clarify, I'd be happy to. It can't be the stuff about BTS because surely you know who they are (I guess I can clarify that BT21 are kind of their cartoon-character selves. Sort of). Was it references to stuff in Kdramas? Haha

I have never really heard of BTS. Or any K-Pop people really. And I don't really know anything about Korea. So most of the stuff that you bought was pretty foreign to me, literally. 😜 But I understood the stuff about it being hot and not knowing where you were going, etc! I'm sure you explained it all really well if anyone knew anything about what you were talking about, hee-hee.

OHHHHH I thought the BTS part was the one given, because of how they've been all over American media and done all the talk shows and been on the AMAs and was on the cover of Billboard and Entertainment Weekly and was the musical guest on SNL and everything. Like even people at work know who they are, though of course they don't know them at all other than having heard their name. Well then I can see how that would be confusing for you! :)))))))) Anyway they are A Big Deal in Kpop, having broken through all previously unbreakable ceilings.

"Me: *enters silently*
Employee: 어서오세요! [Welcome!]
Me: *silent*
Me: *grabs banana milk* *grabs strawberry milk* *goes to counter*
Employee: *names price*
Me: *sweating as though I were planning to rob the place*
Me: *hands him money*
Employee: 안녕히가세요! [In Korean, a standard polite farewell for someone who is leaving a place]
Me: *silent for ~10,000 years*
Me: 안녕히계세요. [In Korean, a standard polite farewell for someone who is staying in a place] *exits*
Employee: (probably) I have got to find a new job."

LOL! That's the best thing I've read all day.

Also, a sheep cafe sounds AMAZING.

Haha! I giggled to myself as I thought about how strange and off putting I must have seemed to that guy, so I'm glad you found it amusing as well. LOL
