calculating, indeed

I saw what I could only term a "math awareness," or maybe "math pride" bumper sticker on my morning commute.

"We all use math.
Every Day."

I'm not sure if it's supposed to be comforting, defensive or belligerent, but it makes me laugh.  Poor maligned math.

Hey, thanks! I wish so, too. I haven't commented on your posts, but I'll relay here that your jewelry is quite handsome.

We had ourselves a moment of hilarity in the lab today, with three grown adults all puzzling over how to read a fairly simple measuring tool. I realayed the comforting message of math ubiquity, and they decided that there exists a perfectly sound loophole for using math BADLY.

what, do math majors not know how to capitalize properly?

i'm glad i don't drive, because i would totally rear-end that bumper sticker.

such a lovely double entendre, that. (not the capitalization part...)

your comment reminds me of an ally-mcbeal-type fantasy G & I had in HS. we wanted to mount some big steel letters, in relief and backwards, on the front bumper of his jetta so that every time some other driver pissed him off, he could rear-end them in his clunker so they wound up with a big dent that said "NICE CAR."
