The Trip: D.C. [Post 3 of 3]

Once again, hover over the pictures for alt text. Also, sorry about the inconsistently-sized pictures; I resized all of them to 800x600 but APPARENTLY Photobucket has decided it gets to choose which ones actually display at that size. Who knows.

Ah, DC. Many more pictures. Yay. )

washington dc, epic, sara vs. the universe, roommate, trip, where in the world is sara?, sister, pic!spam, road trip, lmao

The horse is a Przewalski's horse, which is the last truly wild species of horse on the planet. It's kind of cool, really. Also, some of the pictures in the Air and Space Museum? The ones that aren't explicitly taken by the Hubble? My dad probably built the satellite that took them. My dad is awesome.

ANYWAY. I'm glad you enjoyed DC so much, and wtf, where are the phasers in the American History Museum? I've been there three times since they reopened and nary a glimpse of phasers! Also, that fifties-themed exhibit looks new... have they just recently opened it up, and should I go see it?

Haha, it was cool, but it also kind of freaked us out. Just...a real horse. Stuffed. In the museum. Lol.

...that IS awesome. Dude. Cool.

The phasers are somewhere in the main area, the big area you walk into first? Not off in any wing. I forget which side; Sylvia zeroed in on them, not me.

I do not know if it was new, but it was pretty cool! I would go see it.

No, not the stuffed horse. I think the stuffed horse is General Grant's horse Cinncinati? Idk, haven't been there in a while. I meant the horse in the zoo.

Oh, so over by Threepio somewhere? Shall look.

Oh! Right. Hahaha, okay, gotcha.

No, I don't think it was on C-3PO's side. I think it was on the other side--we saw C-3PO right away, but I am pretty sure she didn't see the phasers until we were about to leave.

cool statues.
I've always wanted to visit the Smithsonian!
zoos tend to be more fun when the weather is a cold or overcast because the animals are a LOT livelier then. On hot sunny days they just lie around which isn't as interesting.
if there ever is a woman president I bet you anything she won't be married. Most male egos couldn't handle it.
what a great trip! :)

No, she'll be married, provided it happens within our lifetime, which I am fairly sure it will. The political landscape being what it is (that is: incredibly fucking sexist) I have a very hard time seeing an unmarried woman managing to get elected. But then, I have pretty much no faith in the media to not suck and what would amount to negative faith in male politicians to not suck, so. I'd love to be proven wrong, I just don't think I will be.

Thank you!

I went through all three posts this morning and got to live vicariously through your trip ;) Despite all the weird setbacks (the tent leaking thing must have been AWFUL, though at least you got to sleep through the panic!), it sounds like it was a good time! Sylvia seems pretty awesome, from what I've read of her XD And your write up was muy entertaining.

I've been to DC most recently of the spots you checked out, but now I want to go back to all of them! I remember the really expensive museum food lol. The museum that had the really super food was the Museum of the American Indian (or...is it Native American? whatever it's called).

mmrrgh I am trying to leave a coherent comment but I am tired and just drank vodka. Just wanted to say I really enjoyed the recap and I want to hang out with you and your friends ;) in a non creepy way, promise

The tent WAS awful. Just...so ugh. But we tried not to let it get to us too much. I'm glad it could at least entertain you. XD

SO EXPENSIVE. It was around $25 for the two of us, and that was without drinks because we'd packed our own. It'd have been over $30 if we hadn't.

Haha, that's actually really flattering! We're dorks through and through. We like to be silly. XD
