i wasn't paying enough attention at the time to news/media and the content - i just wasn't interested/hadn't had my eyes opened i guess ;) i do remember the non-stop coverage post 9/11, and how it was almost more depressing to be sucked into the non-stop coverage. looking back on it now, i feel like that was the start of the sensationist journalism, because of the trauma, because of the intrigue and the beginning of the grip of fear that's strangling the US. i could be wrong, i simply just don't remember indivdual journalists, etc.. as far as coverage went. but from view now looking back, the gov just snowballed everyone with the fear factor, and shoehorning those who might have protested through exploitation of revenge/fear... was journalism that great? i feel failed by journalists, from then up to present.
except for KO. and jon stewart and stephen colbert. ;)

good call on the gov reaction to 9/11 - i think part of it was the panic you talked about, and i think, part guilt. not that they were in any part -responsible- as conspiracy theorists might have it, but rather that they knew something was up and did nothing/ignored it, either with intention or not.
