I'm starting to think Ianto really is crazy. Poor guy. Can't wait to see Jack figure out the mystery and take care of our boy.

I feel so bad for Ianto, he must be terrified! And Jack is so concerned....

If Ianto's return of the hug was perhaps a little more desperate than was proper, Jack made no comment. And likewise Ianto said nothing of how Jack's hold tightened until he could scarcely breathe.
And this... *whimpers*

Looking forward to more!

i think that terrified would be a perfectly acceptable reaction right about now ;)

thanks! and thanks for reading!

It would be obvious if this apparation was an alien, but that it is not, makes it better and more intriguing. Definatley makes me glad that there are 10 parts for this to unfold. If Ianto's not "touched in the head", then I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Wow: a very powerful chapter. I wasn't sure I was hooked until this part, but I'm sure now. You write Ianto's point of view very well, and I want to know what happens next!

Your Jack sounds just a little British; Americans would generally say "the mail" rather than "the post," and we almost never say "you've not" but "you haven't." If you want an American to double-check any dialogue, feel free to ask me! (And if this happens to mean sending me whole chapters before you post them, all the better! :-) Don't suppose there's much chance of that, but if you want to run lines past me, I've been an American all my life. My fic is at Aelfgyfu's Mead Hall, if you're at all tempted by my offer and want to have a look at what I've written.)

I'm still trying very hard to figure out what the story has to do with my favorite Hopkins poem, but then, my own field is quite far from twentieth century. I don't entirely grasp the poem itself.

Thanks for posting this, and I hope to see more soon!

*g* resistance is futile ...

;)

and erm, i'm nebraskan. ;) so, i guess thank you for saying my dialogue sounds british! thanks for the offer, but on account of being from the US myself, i'm going to pass *g* .

i would have to disagree a little bit tho - i don't believe jack's from the US. ;)

oh. you think the poem has something to do with the fic? huh. well. i thought i just used it for its really cool title. *whistles innocently*

thanks, and thanks for reading!

Oh, noes! Sorry about that! I'm not really an idiot; I just sound like one sometimes. Yes, you sounded so British throughout that I never even bothered to, say, check your profile. ::face:palm:: Do take it as a compliment, please; I'm not British, but I teach History of the English Language and have some interest in dialects, and it's often quite apparent (as you probably know) when writers doing Torchwood are really American (and even more so when writers doing Stargate are really British and haven't got Americanisms at all).

I know, the Boeshane Peninsula isn't exactly in the States. But Jack sounds totally American to me, and he has been pretending to be an American in Wales for over a century now; he still maintains very American diction, maybe because he likes to set himself apart from those around him. It also helps him maintain that image as an obnoxious know-it-all.

My main point is that I'm really enjoying the story and eagerly awaiting the next installment!

*g* it's no problem at all! gave me fuzzies to think i'd been confused for a native brit ;)

see - i want more story on how the hell jack still sounds like an american after all that time in wales. tho - there are moments of mum/mom on the show, etc... he's picked up no britishisms? that's some training in the time agency to maintain a specific manner of speaking for that long of time immersed in a culture.

*g* thank you!
