Pretty much my thoughts too, great review. I'm surprised you didnt mention the first Oliver/Tess scene. Oliver funding the project when he was still with Chloe - calling it Isis, a story about eternal love. Loved Tess insinuating that this was all about sending a message to a certain fiesty blonde :)
I totally only watched the Oliver scenes and good lord does he break my heart pretty much every episode. I'm waiting for the inevitable day when the writers decide it's time for Oliver to move on and/or Chloe comes back and they still ruin it. I'm trying to have hope but, man, it's Smallville so it's nearly impossible to have that.
I admit, despite how I feel about Smallville and it's cheese-factor, I really enjoyed this episode. And I agree, Erica did a great job as Isis. I thought she would be bad too, because I dislike most of her portray as young Lois (though I loved her as future Lois- I know, weird). I'm finding Tess to be the most interesting character this season, although I did kinda worry that she and Oliver may have had one too many lingering looks. The way she looked after she ran out of Watchtower after being offered the job was a bit of fantastic acting and I think she may be worried that in the end she'll fail them. Especially since she hasn't told them about young Lex who I think in the end will emotionally and maybe even physically destroy Tess. Well, from what I understand Chloe will be back mid-season (I hope that not considered a spoiler) so we'll see how that works out and changes the dynamic.
I also forgot to add how annoyed I was at Oliver's continued mispronunciation of Set, which he kept pronouncing as Sate. But otherwise, good episode. The best so far for me as far as pace and acting go.
