I wish whenever fans say stuff like, "Omg, that wasn't supposed to happen!!" etc. in the movie adaptation, the author would be like, "lol you guise, CALM THE FUCK DOWN, JESUS" or something to that effect. Sometimes it's just really silly what fans think about a certain scene or whatever.
I never have any problems with the way they adapt things onto the screen (well, if it's done well of course). If they can convey the story/main idea well enough, it's fine with me. (Hmm, probably because I have zero expectations... lolol)
I know, right? When I went to see HBP the girls next to me were commenting on everything "Felix Felicis is supposed to be GOLD!" "She's supposed to be crying in an ABANDONED CLASSROOM, NOT A HALLWAY." "That's not how that line went!"
Novel writing is a solitary work of art. Rarely do people write in pairs. But movies are collaborations; the director, the producers, the writer, the cast, and designers all have to take whatever root source, be it an original screenplay or an adapted screenplay, and each one of them has a voice in what comes out and they could all potentially have very different ideas about how things are supposed to go.
I just hope that if I ever am lucky enough to have a novel picked up for a movie deal that they'll let me come play with them.
