...and then I update for this stupid shit. I love it.

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first couple lines from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses ( Read more... )

Holy crap, you posted a lot.

And I only know like four.

5. The Impossible Dream (heh)
6. I Want You To Want Me, Cheap Trick (or one of a million covers)
7. Pump It, Black Eyed Peas
8. The Boxer, Simon and Garfunkel
13. Hey Jealousy, Gin Blossoms
26. This is that "always have to steal my kisses from you" song, but I dunno who sings it
28. Just Like a Pill, Pink

Either we listen to different music, or I just suck.

You know, of most of those mid-90s alternapop bands, the Gin Blossoms hold up pretty well. It was an odd time for music. Reminds me of babysitting during 9th grade and watching MTV when the Gin Blossoms song from Empire Records was on. I watched either MTV or General Hospital, bc that's when Jax and Brenda were heating up the screen like nobody's business.

Mid-90s music is SO identifiable though. It's like someone could play a Baroque piece, and I'll be all, shit yes, that's Baroque, because it's very distinctive. Mid-90s music is like that too. Like every single song off the Friends soundtrack. (Okay, minus Joni Mitchell, but if one more person remakes Big Yellow fucking Taxi, I am not responsible for my murderous rampage that will result.) Toad the Wet Sprocket. Hootie and the Blowfish. And that's probably the only time the mid-90s have ever been compared to Baroque music.
