Nobody Said It Was Easy.
Yunho/Jaejoong.
AU, Romance, Angst.
Yunho challenges Jaejoong to spend a day without him. And Jaejoong feels tricked, because 24 hours is not what it used to be.
"I can count eight."
"Eight?! I can count twenty-four." Jaejoong bragged, his proudly smiling face turning towards his boyfriend.
Yunho scoffed, "You're such a liar, Jaejoong-ah."
Frowning, Jaejoong span back around in his hold, pointing towards the darkened sky and picking out every speck of light to prove that he could see twenty-four different stars. Yunho chuckled as the elder scanned the skies, already stricking off eleven different stars.
"That's an aeroplane, Jae." Yunho laughed, his smile turning into a purse of the lips as he pressed them against the back of the other's neck, and beneath his fingers, the Jaejoong shivered.
"It's not!" he argued, unwrapping Yunho's arms from his waist and making him stand in front of him, "Look real close!"
Squinting, Yunho picked out the flashing red lights of the so-called 'star' and raised his eyebrows at Jaejoong, who had already realised he was wrong.
"Okay, okay." Jaejoong pouted, "Twenty-three."
Yunho chuckled deeply, grabbing the other boy around the waist again and pulled them close, locking their lips together. Jaejoong gasped as their mouths touched, and Yunho stole the air from his lungs.
A cold gust of wind blew through the balcony, the frozen air breaking their kiss. Jaejoong looked up to Yunho, the moon shining in his wide eyes as he cringed from the cold and pouted.
"Oxygen thief." he accused with a gentle smile.
Another burst of wind made Jaejoong's nose wrinkle, his eyes screwing shut as the cold sank deep into the skin that wasn't in contact with Yunho. Breathing on Jaejoong's face to warm him up, Yunho suggested going inside, his hands taking hold of the the other's own and guiding him inside.
Once inside, Jaejoong deposited himself on his bed, beckoning Yunho closer with his finger. The latter complied, locking the door to the balcony and pulling the curtains before making his way over to his frozen lover.
"You're shivering." Yunho said as he pushed Jaejoong backwards to lay on his bed, his lips finding their favourite place underneath the other's left ear.
Jaejoong gasped, the place where Yunho's lips had attatched themselves instantly burning hot, "Then warm me up, Yunho-yah."

"I don't want to, though!" Jaejoong whined, his arms wrapping around Yunho's neck, "I don't think I could do it anyway."
"I know you can do it Jae," Yunho smiled, pressing his lips to Jaejoong's hair and running his fingers along his bare spine, "If you can do it, I know that we're meant to be. I'll know that I'm right when I say that I'll love you forever."
Jaejoong bit his lip, "But a whole day without you? No texting, no talking, none of your kisses? How am I supposed to live like that?"
Yunho smiled, "I'm taking that as a compliment."
"You should! You're my world! Don't you feel the same way about me?" Jaejoong asked, mock-pouting.
"Of course, Jaejoong-ah." Yunho admitted, sadness tinging his words slightly, "But no one has been able to do this for me before, and I love you a million times more than I've loved anyone else. I just need to know that I'm right. That you'll be with me forever."
"I've never had anyone ask me to stay away from them before," Jaejoong said sadly, "It's always been, 'stay with me forever' and 'we'll be together always'."
Yunho smiled gently, "That's what I'm asking you, but in a different way. If we can do this, I know we can stay together forever."
Nodding, Jaejoong agreed, "Okay. I'll do it. I'll do it for you."
Rolling them over, Yunho licked Jaejoong's lips, elicting a whimper from beneath him. Irritated, Jaejoong cut the playing and captured
Yunho's own petals, sucking on the lower lip until Yunho's the one moaning. It seals the deal and they both smile.
Pulling away, Yunho breathed, smiling sadly, "It starts now."

Saturday morning passed so slowly for Jaejoong, the empty feeling of knowing that he wasn't going to see Yunho for at least twenty four hours only made him want to see him more. He'd usually spend Saturday's with the owner of his soul, watching a film that they would make jokes about; going for lunch at one of their favourite restaurants and ending up spending the whole day there; finding themselves at the park after wandering around, Yunho pushing Jaejoong on the swings until they ended up under the jungle-gym, the latter falling asleep on Yunho's shoulder; or a trip to the shops where Yunho would let Jaejoong dress him up in whatever he felt like, just to see his smile.
And on the rare occasions where one of them was ill or busy, they'd still be texting. Jaejoong recalled a weekend when they hadn't seen each other and had been so frustrated with their seperation, Yunho had invited him to video messaging where they had taken part in instant-messaging cyber-sex.
So instead of sitting at home and feeling sorry for himself, Jaejoong had called Junsu and invited he, Yoochun and Changmin out to the local ice cream parlor, to replace the loss of one of his favourite things with another.
"How's Yunho?" Yoochun had asked as they meandered their way to the parlor, "Aren't you usually joint at the hip? What's changed?" he laughed and the Jaejoong rolled his eyes.
"He asked me to live a day without him." he smiled proudly, "To prove that we love each other."
Nodding, the three exchanged glances, before averting them to the floor as they walked.
"Soppy." Changmin had said with a small snigger to break the silence, but it didn't last long before he bit his lip. Jaejoong was suspicious, but held his tongue, deciding to ask Yunho about it tomorrow instead. He brushed it off and smiled, just glad to be killing the hours.
At the parlor, he ordered his and Yunho's favourite, double chocolate and strawberry swirl, and tried not to think about the amount of time they'd shared it.
And he went to bed cold that night - the freezing air of the room highlighting how cold the space of Yunho's lips underneath his ear felt.

Waking up at 9am, the first thing Jaejoong did was reach for his phone, excited.
I did it! I did it! I'm coming to see you. I miss you so fucking much, he sent, a smile plastered on his face.
When he didn't receive a reply by quarter past nine, he just assumed that Yunho was getting ready for him to come 'round and so he got dressed as quick as he could and rushed out of his house, grabbing a slice of toast for breakfast.
It never took long to get to Yunho's place. Ten minutes at the most. He lived in a flat around the corner, one of the cheap ones that he could afford with his miniscule wages. On several occasions, Jaejoong had begged him to come and live with him and his parents. Just because Yunho's parents had abused him when he was a boy shouldn't mean he should have to live in a dingy flat. He deserved the best, he deserved everything. So he wanted Yunho to share his house - especially because Jaejoong's own parents adored Yunho like their own child. And if they shared a bedroom, he could wake up to Yunho's face every day. Maybe he'd agree now they'd completed this challenge.
Jaejoong sighed when Yunho didn't answer the door. He assumed that his boyfriend had slept in, as he had done so many times before - and so it was times like this when Jaejoong was glad that Yunho had given him his own key to the flat.
It was eerily quiet when Jaejoong opened the door, and so he shouted, unable to hold in his excitement, "Yunho-yah! I did it! Wake up! I did it!"
Throwing open Yunho's bedroom door, his eyes resting upon his boyfriend lying on the bed, Jaejoong smiled. He jumped onto the left side of bed, the mattress dipping as he shook Yunho's shoulder, annoyed at him for being such a heavy-sleeper. He leant forwards to press a kiss against the side of his lips - which was when he noticed how icy Yunho's skin was.
Trying again, Jaejoong shook Yunho's shoulder, "Yunho-yah! Come on, I did it!"
Gasping, he brought his hand to cover his mouth.
"Y-Yu-Yunho-yah..." Jaejoong trembled, his fingers on his other hand stumbling over Yunho's cheeks, "Yunho, wake up. This isn't a funny joke..."
Jaejoong cupped Yunho's cheeks, a teardrop falling over his fingers, "Yunho..."
His eyes flitted up for a couple of seconds, falling upon a pieces of paper with Jaejoong-ah written over the front. Rubbing one his eyes with his palm, he reached over Yunho, trying not to disturb him and grabbed the paper.
Unfolding the sheet, it read in Yunho's beautiful handwriting:
You did it baby, can you do it everyday? ...I'll love you forever.

based on this:
A boyfriend gave a challenge to his girlfrind to live a day without him. No communications at all and said if she passed it, he'll love her forever. The girlfriend agreed. She didn't text or call him for the whole day - without knowing that her boyfriend has only 24 hours to live because he's suffering from cancer. She excitedly went to her boyfriend's house the next day.
Her tears fall as she sees her boyfriend lying on his coffin, with a note on the side.
"You did it baby, can you do it everyday? I LOVE YOU."
