So I've undertaken the project of getting my transfer credits from Columbia fully vetted at UIC which was much easier than I thought it would be. I had thought I had to get descriptions of all the classes, which is no easy feat if you took them 15 years ago (I spent about a month trying with no luck last spring). y'know... although it sounds handled... i would contact columbia's university archives because they probably have that stuff there...

A friend suggested that, but since I'm not in New York, I had to get someone on the phone at Columbia who would help me and I was sent on a phone marathon ("oh, you need to call these people"..."they told you to call us, no you should be talking to these other people"...etc)

Too bad I didn't think to ask my librarian friend who is often in NYC for help. :)

i would have tried too!

Yeah, I looked at their website.. maybe it's just that they are in the process of moving, but i couldn't find any finding aids or information on them at all! although archivists are well known for sucking at user services and documentation (although they are getting better it seems).

awww. thanks!

i think the age of the records makes it hard too. we weren't so digital with our information in 1989. The computerized card catalog at the university was a novelty then, and there sure as hell was no website or online databases.
