Spouses should never attempt to teach each other things

Anything else I should know and write down for future reference? :)

And I'm glad you liked the hat! :D I saw it and thought of you. :) It's the bit of Canadiana I kept forgetting to bring to meetings for you!

Hee hee. This is fun. I'll have to see what next I can find that screams "Canada"...perhaps a Canada umbrella hat, or a wee pocket mountie...hmm....we shall see on my next trip home!! :D

Oh, sit down sister, I could regale you for hours...but I think half the fun is discovering it on your own. Ha!

Erm...a "wee pocket mountie"????

Yes, a mountie that fits in your pocket, of course! :P You never know when you're going to need a Mountie.

I don't know how I've gotten this far in life without one...sheer luck, probably!

Once, when I was driving my grandmother (Sito) home from our house, she told me never to let my husband teach me how to drive. This, dispite the fact that I was a. not married b. not dating and c. demonstrably knew how to drive.

In fact, I demonstrably know how to drive and sometimes Dan tries to teach me anyway. (Talk about frustration--that's a whole other post.) Maybe John is better about that sort of thing, but don't discard these wise words from a wise woman...

Now it's my Dad who tries to teach me how to drive every time we're in the car together. I recently got him to admit that he only focuses on particular aspects of driving (like when to start braking before a stop or turn) and ignores others (like using turn signals or keeping within ones lane, things he's terrible at) when he's being critical. I suppose that's something, but I wish he'd just stop.
And since we started dating, John was supposed to teach me how to drive a standard. Probably a good thing that he sold his standard before we ever got around to it.

DON'T LET HIM TEACH YOU. Honestly. Get Heather Butler to teach you. I'd teach you, but Heather is the best standard-driving-teacher around. She taught me when no one else--not even my mom--could. So if you ever get another standard, you know who to call!

A point well illustrated. Gretchen has to do all kinds of graphic design work at her new(ish) job, something I have more than a little experience with. She'll say "I need to pick up a book on Adobe Illustrator for work," and I'll invariably respond, "Why? I know everything there is to know about it, just ask me!"

She should buy a book.

I can see it know; Gretchen at work, searching for information, pulling you out of a large-ish filing cabinet just behind her...
