And the world spins madly on

My summer course starts tomorrow morning, and I am LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. Really. I doubt anyone else is, but I am. It's just Literary Genres, but I tried to pick the most fun stuff in the anthology, assigned as little homework as possible, and am set on teaching these people how to do this stuff. Gotta own it. Pussying in. I honestly am best at ( Read more... )

I'm jealous; I'd give my right arm to be working for pay this summer. I just found out that fixing my car is going to be expensive, not that any amount of money was completely acceptable, but still.

Henna is very nice! Why not?

Yeah, but it's ADJUNCT pay remember? :D

Do you have a good mechanic where you are? They are worth their weight in gold. My car--ugh. Dan adjusted the clutch cable the other day but none of that matters due to the fact that every time I apply the brakes I have to kiss my lucky rabbit's foot and pray to the patron saint of intersections that I'm actually going to stop.

WE SHOULD BRING THE KIDS TO THE BEACH TOGETHER IF YOU ARE UP THIS WAY.

Adjunct pay would totally do. I'll get some loan money, sigh, when I register for my thesis, but not being able to work this fall is really going to hurt. FSC doesn't have many adjunct jobs for the summer or evenings, and they are all taken up by people with huge amounts of seniority and no inclination to die or retire. It's one of the few real drawbacks of working there. My internship is terrific, but a huge money sink. I ought to pull Matthew out of school to save cash, but until I finish my hours, I really can't.

We do have a good mechanic, and he usually does our work for cost. This time it was just an expensive repair. It's only $500, but I had a lot of other uses for that money. Major dislike.

Big dislike, right there. Cars love to break down right when you actually have no money to repair them. There wasn't even any freelance work this summer, which is hugely unreal. There's always freelance work.

I need to get 2 teeth fixed but it's like, either I save money for daycare in the fall or I get my teeth done. I love getting to make these decisions. SOME DAY LIFE WILL BE EASY.

If YOU think henna is cool? Then I think henna is cool. I'll post some pictures. Eventually. When I find my camera cable. Stupid lost things.

"Jingles Cantina" sounds totally disreputable, to go by the name: I hope you're monitoring closely the sorts of things she and Moira are off doing together.

Another little girl of my acquaintance developed a pair of imaginary friends named "Eric," if I recall correctly, and "The Man." I loved this latter, hearing it as through the name were the infamous "The Man" of 1970s political rhetoric: that this little girl actually knew The Man, and played mudcakes with him in-between his cigar-smoking and repression of the disenfranchised.
