In spite of this, I like them. I want to pet them.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAH - Somehow I can just see you're gonna have a kid who pets one someday.

Look at all that glorious, pettable fur! I want to snuggle it in my lap!

YES! Admittedly, a terrible plan! One wonders why God made the skunk so irresistibly touchable and yet armed it with a powerful stink.

Ah! I love skunks! You need to find a wildlife rescue center somewhere and visit when they have baby skunks; cutest little things ever. They are soft and fluffy and they will raise their tails at you, but they don't have active stink glands yet. Baby possums are pretty darn cute, too, but I'm strange that way.

I discovered that skunks like cat kibble almost ten years ago when one waddled up to our back porch at our previous residence to snarf the kibble we put out for a mother cat and her c. 2-3 mo. old kitten (and a sleek neighborhood scrounger who also queued up in the bread line). All three cats backed WAAAAY off to let Pepe eat his fill. The missus and I were treated to an alarmingly close-up view of his scent sacks as he revolved around the kibble bowl ( ... )

Your skunk has such thick luxuriant hair! The Texas skunks in the zoo have thinner, stringier hair. And the skunk that came and drank out of the little fountain in my mom's backyard was... well, I guess I never actually saw it. My mom startled it when she came around the corner, and she almost hosed it in the face. When she talked about it over the next few days, she would say things about how safe her neighborhood is, 'but I do have concerns about that skunk.'
