Eh, I watch Axis Powers Hetalia too, although I'm thinking of stopping. The episodes get pretty repetitive after awhile and it seems like they're doing less history as time goes on.

RE Hetalia: I just don't get it. My backlog of good anime is big enough that I'm disinclined to spend any time checking it out,l and your review only improves that sentiment. So thanks for sparing me the trouble; we appreciate your sacrifice. :)

RE dubs on Netflix: Is it possible to watch subbed versions on Netflix? I almost universally prefer the sub to the dub for most series.

I'd assumed that it was dub-only, but come to think of it, maybe it just defaults to the dub. D'oh. I'll have to try it out.

This seems to be the case across all of Netflix's anime offerings, so that could be promising. (It would also be nice if things-in-general had subtitles. It's always a good option to have.)

Is it just me, or does it seem like Netflix's anime disc offerings are dwindling lately? I'm thrilled that there's so much on streaming, but so much of it is dub-only that it's kinda pointless. That said, I was thinking of watching Hetalia due to lack of options, although I've never had any REAL interest. Your review only helps reinforce that lack of interest, so I think I'll lay off it.

I haven't actually rented much lately - I've been on a spree of borrowing, watching the backlog of stuff I've bought, and watching some things on streaming (I have higher dub tolerance than pretty much anyone, obv.)

But I have tested it - it doesn't look like the streaming stuff has multiple language tracks at this point, which is a bummer. That shoots themselves in the foot, of course, but that's how the licensors tend to be. A lot of the stuff available on Crunchyroll/Hulu/etc. is dub-only, too. I can only assume it's a rights issue of some kind, rather than being THAT out of touch with their fanbase.

I tried it, daring myself to add to my list of guilty pleasures, but only managed to make it through an episode and a half (which, I think, ends up being about seven minutes). Relieved by this, I go back to pretending that I don't secretly watch Naruto. :)
