We're in at Tekko, somehow. I'm not going to question it. I just hope that they processed our registration, too... Now to... make some things for it. Um

Haha. I haven't read it in a while, but I admit that it was a lot of fun, and parts of it are still Pretty Good For Me. It just doesn't "work" as the "real story" because they "went and filled in the real story," ergo "whoops." ;P
But I was never into fanfic for the Real Story aspect of it all, so I admit that doesn't bother me as much as it probably should.
I happened came across it the other day, and re-read it. I still have all the original print outs. It currently sits in its very own plastic pocket presentation folder on my bookshelf :D
That story gave me so many inspirations to continue writing while I was in high school you have no idea. I had such a bad time when it came to my final exams because illness had knocked me out of school for almost 12 months, so when it came down to it I had to write something pretty spectacular to make up for what I had lost. Needless to say reading it gave me the boost I needed to actually pull it off.
For what it's worth, I still like at least three of your videos without embarrassment.
I remember I used to occasionally respond to ops on my videos with things like "Oh, I'm by no means the first; if you thought *this* was good, then you really should check out kusoyaro's 'My Iron Lung'", but these days I don't bother. If one of my videos has helped create another AMV fan, that's good; if they remain a fan long enough to discover the wealth of better AMVs that are out there, that's even better.
Then, if they develop a taste and decide they still like my videos, that's awesome. If they decide they don't like them anymore, that's still fine by me, because I have no way of finding out anyway. :P
> I know it's stupid to say, but I think there's something to be said for breaking things down: "The characterization is shrill, and it's full of padding" vs. "You suck, kill yourself now."
See, that's how you know I'm not an AMV editor. ;)The funny thing is, there was just a topic on the Org forum the other day, with contributions from a lot of

Well, you're a good editor, is the difference. It's OK to like your videos; they're not solely for newbs.
About directed criticism - that's interesting. Wonder how it'll pan out. I won't deny that people have a lot of fun beating others down, and they bond over it with each other, and stuff, but I think there's room in the world for both approaches.

Oh, tons of people who know nothing about AMVs love my videos. That's why they play well on YouTube, but not in the AMV world. They're like oh, what's the modern equivalent of LBZ? Naruto and emo? - they aren't liked or respected by AMV makers, but hordes of fantards with low standards love them.
Even if I can't be good, I'd rather not be virulently bad like that. I'd rather be harmlessly bad. :)

OH!! That makes a heck of a lot more sense! I was a half-respectable fanficcer some seven or eight years ago, if there is such a thing as a half-respectable fanficcer. :P They really should update their profile, though.
