Demon's Covenant Short Story, Continued

And here is the rest of the short story! Again, hints at spoilers in Demon's Lexicon and Covenant, minor and major and just-mentioned characters herein.

"Well,” Jamie said. “This was just like that film the Breakfast Club, except weirder, and also without anyone reforming, any touching heartfelt moments, or any soundtrack to speak of aside from ( Read more... )

ALL THE HEARTS.

Oh, this is such a wonderful follow-up, and now I am all beamy and yet heartwrenched for Jamie and Mark and Seb just a little bit and even for our lovely psychotic Nick.

I love all your stories (or why else would I be here?) but my one true passion will always be your work with characters and emotion, and making a story funny and sweet and complicated and realistic all at once.

Thank you once again for writing this!

Hee, I am amused by the diverse opinions on Seb. ;)

It is possible Nick should be an inspirational speaker. 'Don't end up like me, kids. Stay in school. Have feelings.'

Great story! Was so good that I completely lost track of time! I liked the characterization of Mark especially. It's nice to see someone in fiction who's bi but not crazy. I honestly thought that Seb outranked Nick for being a complete jerk, even as Nick has an total vacancy of humanity.

Now I am 30 minutes late for class though... oh dear.

We need more bi characters in fiction generally, I think. Though I say this while aware Mark's only in the optional extras, not the books, so I am not in the clear here.

Hee. ;) I am amused by the differing views on Seb in your comment and the one above... fun to see all the different takes.

Hope you got to class...

I'm just here to second this sentiment. With your characters you've proven you can tackle the trickiness of writing gay characters that are not defined by their sexuality, but now you've proven you can do that with bisexual characters too. I was wondering if you've ever considered writing any asexual characters? I know it would tragically limit the makeout scenes, but I'm still interested.

I've considered it, yes, and would if the right story came to me! I'd be a bit worried, since I don't know anyone who's asexual (or rather, don't know anyone who's asexual and has come out to me, and would be comfortable talking with me about it) and getting some personal perspective via my friends is often an element of things for me. But I would try not to let it stop me. I'll be writing bi characters in actual books first, though.

(Asexual characters I've read: Karen Healey's Guardian of the Dead and Elizabeth Bear's Dust.)

Thank you for the kind words!

Aw, thank you! I love my ladies, and since the emotional thoroughline in DL is between two guys, I worry for them.
