Today's Topic: Favorite, Best Class at CSU and Why

My favorite class at CSU was probably History of Economic Thought.  I liked it because I find economics fascinating.  It was also really interesting to see the whole string of logic from one person to the next and see history from such a different perspective than I usually get.  You know, it's usually about who fought what war and who started it ( Read more... )

How do i nail down a best class? jenflint January 25 2005, 10:24:09 UTC
I mean, there were classes that were more fun to be in cause i had friends in there.... so my country dance class was fun cause a bunch of Summitview people took it, Volleyball was a lot of fun too, i just love the game!

I think my favorite class though was my Digital Logic Class that i took my freshman year. Its where i really developed my engineering croanies that i studied with the rest of college, and its the class that i think i use the most of these days.... Am i geek? I actually thought it was fun...

My favorite class was . . . uh . . .

Well, there were two. One was my baroque art history class - because the teacher was Cori Oleson. She had this calm DJ type voice, a great vocabulary, and a LOT of insight into the psyche of the artists we studied. I especially loved her teaching on the life of Caravaggio and his paintings.

The other was my photography class, which I took the same year, my senior year. Again, because of the teacher. Doug Dertinger. He had this way of getting everyone to think beyond what they knew and discovering amazing things. I didn't like the amount of work in the class, especially since it was an elective for me, but it was really fun to take pictures of random stuff and waste a ton of film while trying to get a good photo.

Economics was a favorite of my as well. shaneshack January 25 2005, 22:01:28 UTC
Economics actually made the wars from history class make more sense, or less in some cases. Like Vietnam was armed by the Soviets who bought wheat from the United States who was at war with Vietnam. All most all of the wars of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries were funded (on both sides) by the international bankers. They loaned money to every country involved in WWI an WWII. War is a money making machine. At the end of every war the winners and the losers paid the bankers.

Same kind of dynamic with private wars. When people and corporations go to court, the winners and the loosers pay the lawyers. "Why cant we all just... get along?!"

Its intersting that the classes we loved the most had possibly more to do with what we thought of the teacher than the material.

"If you want to improve be content to be thought foolish and stupid."

The Greeks didn't write obituaries. They only asked one question after a man died, "Did he have passion."

What is passion? Where does it come from? Is it "foolish and stupid"?
