You're very charitable. Stephenie Meyers is very much the product of her upbringing. Her ideas on relationships seems very much informed by her LDS background.

I... will never pick up this book. Or, at least, it is very unlikely that I will ever pick up this book.

I'm in chapter 5, and it's kind of hard for me to read. It kept reminding me of Deathly Hollows, like you said. I would probably read that besides this.
