It's all Katherines fault - I've ordered 7 yards of 10oz wool/silk grey/brown plaid and 4 yards of medium brown tropical weight wool to make my 1850's walking dress. Yep walking dress for May but I think the tropical weight will be nicer than most of the other weight/fibers out there. Right now it looks like a plaid skirt and a solid jacket. I'm ( Read more... )

I blame her for most of my more recent costuming. Of course she is the person who tells me that she can't ever buy a new car because it would really cut into her costuming budget! I was told by a friend who just came to my house for the first time that I obviously worked for my hobby. I admit - I work for my hobby (and my car, and my student loans)!!!

It's true! I just couldn't have a car payment and a new car. And I was wrong, I don't have 36,000 miles. It's 35,600 :)

I'll happily take the blame. Yay!

This is very much a tropical weight wool event though. There will be dirt. Therefore, wool is best :)

we can prove that the right weight of wool is more comfortable than cotton or silk in the heat!

Oh, 35,600 - I have about 850, and I need to buy gas tonight. sigh. I hate buying gas.

the website says it takes 1-2 days for them to ship and then the time to get here. I guess that makes this a good weekend to work on my corset/chemise.
