The Increasingly Less Than Friendly Skies

Eric and I are currently en route to California to celebrate Christmas with his family. And it’s been a heckuva route. We left our cozy NYC apartment on Thursday night to bring Baxter to my parents’ house in Rhode Island for a spa week while we wing our way to lovely Shaver Lake, California, where Eric’s nature-loving parents have built the home ( Read more... )

Ugh, I feel for you. I've been stuck in that very airport, for 10 hours. I swore I would NEVER have a layover in Denver again.

I hope you are up and out of there soon!!

OMG, Sarah.

Dante's Hell, indeed.

How can we help? Need a Debs chat? Want us to share our own travel horror stories?

Okay, I'll go first!

When we flew to the UK in 2007, our flight to NJ was diverted to Ohio because of storms in the Northeast. By the time we got to NJ, our plane had left for London. And yes, we missed it by something like 20 - 30 minutes. I'll spare you the Airport Ordeal story, but my DH managed somehow through some deal with some guy who will want to claim his soul at some point - whatever - to get us on the next plane to London. We made it! Then we spent 90 minutes in customs. Then we spent a long time in the baggage area, searching fruitlessly for our bags. They were lost. Our pre-ordered ride was long gone, but eventually came back for us. The luggage caught up with us about 28 hours later.

If you're still sitting on the floor and you're still bored, you can read all about my UK trip by going to the "britain07" tag.

:-)

I would only believe the part about Dante's Hell if you were in Chicago's O'Hare airport. Seventh circle, right there.

Hang in there! Travel safely!

Yikes! Just saw on cnn.com about plane skidding off the runway in Denver. Headed for Houston. I hope that doesn't mean more delays for you.

Safe travels!!

Ah gah, dude, I hope you arrive soon and safely, and your trip home is much better than this. I vote that the mountain passages are TOO SNOWY to walk so you can stay in and simply enjoy your holiday!
