It's interesting to realize that Sarah Jane started out as the doe-eyed Lois Lane, who looked up to the Third Doctor as a kindly yet dashing father figure - whom she harbored more than a bit of an Electra complex for, due in no small part to Jon Pertwee's "I will protect you gallantly and chastely, while staring at you with my burning bedroom eyes" - and yet, she's since turned into a female version of Three herself, by being both parental and adventurous, and attracting much younger companions, who gaze at her starry-eyed. :)
