Cool caves and even cooler water

On the morning of Friday the 21st, I took the free hostel shuttle to the Brisbane transit centre to catch my train to Rockhampton... my first time ever on a long-distance train (it so happens that this very train company had a terrible mishap a week later, in which a train collided with a semi truck and killed both conductors). A fellow traveller ( Read more... )

I know, I kept trying to think of things to say as I went through this (The photos are amazing, I wanna go to a beach)

Then I saw the last line and just kind of blinked a few times.

You. Skydiving. Well, at least you brought your camera :D

Yeah, me! Who would've thought? I said I was going to do some extreme sports on my trip, but I didn't think it would be so soon, and the craziest one first!

Not allowed cameras though. :( They want you to buy their expensive ($100-$250) photos and videos that they take, and I was too stubborn for that.

Considering that you are pretty much a proffesional photographer I can understand that.

They didn't know that, though... I think it's more to do with the consequences if you drop your camera while falling at 200km/h! Their cameras are DSLRs with fisheye lenses mounted as helmet cams, and their video cameras are handycams strapped to their wrists. The cool thing I found out is that you can actually have a job as a skydiving photographer... like you get to specialize in it and jump for free all the time. How cool is that?

Working on another as we speak, though I probably won't finish it til tonight, which will be your morning. ;)

The cost of a round trip flight to Australia is not that far off from a week-long vacation in Mexico, you know!

When did we get a hinney?

Yay Whitsundays/Whitehaven! By far my favourite part of our trip (we did a 4 day sailing/diving cruise with Tallarook). For some reason we neglected to take our stinger suits to the beach with us, so I didn't swim there but the view was nice enough to make up for that :)
