I considered that my insect might be a weta, but I thought they were more cave-dwellers! What was he doing in my ROOM? I'm sorry I called him gross now, because I've proclaimed to like wetas in the past (but that was when they were in caves, where they belonged). I'm really glad I did a catch-and-release with him now, since they are protected by law!
I don't remember petrol prices being crazy on the West Coast, but it's entirely possible! My $2.02/L was on the East Cape of the North Island, where there were only two servos in 200km I think! Regarding your story though, apparently they do put up signs for that in some places! :p
