I published my last post in a hurry, so I forgot to mention that that night (March 4th), I ended up sleeping down in the parking lot where I saw the possum, because it would have been dangerous to navigate back up that road in the dark! Besides, I wanted to do the walk to the other arch and see the caves in the area, and I was not keen on driving ( Read more... )

Just beautiful Sarah!

It doesn't take more than seeing a few pictures of New Zealand to understand why Peter Jackson chose to shoot the "Lord of the Rings" films there.

Well, it's pretty expensive to transport that large an amount of people (500+) back and forth from the states to there. It is so beautiful there and I'm sure I speak for many when I say that I am partially living vicariously through you right now. We're loving your stories and pictures Sarah. Thanks so much and I would be grateful for a comment from you some time but I know your busy.

That cave is really cool, what sort of lighting did you have for your shots?

It was PITCH black in there, so I used my on-camera flash (my external flash was in the car). It emits several pre-flashes to allow the camera to focus, and then once to take the picture... probably blinded the poor creepy crawlies. :p
