I got in and get 6 thousand dollars as an entrance scholarship must go study econ.

By "must go study econ", do you mean you have an economics exam sometime soon, or you've been admitted into a master's of economics program?

No, no, no... it’s the former. She hopes to pass econ, not get admitted to an econ program.

Aaaah. Okay, that answers a few questions that were rolling round loosely in my head.
