Gate Star Battle Galactica

Chapter 1

“How much further before we arrive in Calgoria,” Elizabeth asked Sheppard.

“Approximately 8 hours at current speed,” responded John.

Elizabeth, John, Rodney, and Radek were traveling by puddle jumper to a planet known as Calgoria.  The primary intentions of going there was to set up diplomatic relations and to form an alliance.  Elizabeth Weir was especially nervous, although she did a fair job at hiding it.  She had tried many times over her years in Atlantis to be respectable and friendly with the people from other worlds she met, but the inevitable was: in some cases, alliances and friendships were not always possible when one planet refuses to negotiate with the other.  Elizabeth had feared Calgoria may not accept Atlantis’ terms, and she only hoped this event would turn out for the better.  It was apparent Rodney and Radek were not concerned about the outcome of establishing an alliance with Calgoria, however.

“Oh C’mon,” Rodney fervently exclaimed.  “What’s so horrible about ‘Stranger than Fiction?’”

“The man’s life is saved by a watch, Rodney!  It couldn’t get any more stupid than that,” Zelenka retorted.

“Well, if you believe that, then it is obvious you have completely-“  Before Rodney was allowed to finish his sentence the puddle jumper began to shake.

“Great!  Just what we need: a wraith attack,” John sarcastically bellowed as he attempted to fire the drone weapons.  But when they did not work, he continued by inquiring, “Uh… Rodney, Radek, why aren’t the drones launching?”

Radek and Rodney immediately rose up from their seats to access the control grid in the aft of the jumper.

“Oh no,” Rodney uneasily said.

“I did not just hear you say, ‘Oh no,’ Rodney.  I don’t have time for ‘Oh no,’” Sheppard frustratingly yelled.

“The weapon systems are blown.  There’s no way to recover their ability in time,” Radek explained.

“Oh God,” McKay worriedly exclaimed.  “We’re going to die!  I just know it.”

“Wait!  Can’t we make a jump,” Weir inquired.

“Y-yes, but we could lose quite a bit of power that way,” Zelenka answered.

“At this point, I don’t think that matters.  Make the jump, Colonel,” Elizabeth ordered.

Sheppard made the jump, and it worked: not a wraith dart in site.  There was, however, another ship close by.
