Name of my show: Torchwood US
Basic idea:
At the end of the Doctor Who episode 'Journey's End' Captain Jack Harkness said to Martha Jones: "You know, I'm not sure about UNIT these days. Maybe there's something else you could be doing."
And that is exactly what Martha decides to do. She opens a new branch of Torchwood located in the USA.
Remembering some people she met during 'the year that never was' Martha decides to locate and recruit them.
The year that never was: At the end of Doctor Who season 3 a Time Lord called the Master managed to take over the earth with the help of perverted versions of Humans - the Toclafane - that he brought back through time and space from the end of the Universe. The Toclafane killed about 10 % of Humanity upon their arrivel and the Masters reign of terror began.
Having turned the Doctor's TARDIS into a Paradox Machine the Master made sure that his Toclafane were able to kill their own ancestors.
To keep Humanity at bay and cower in fear the Master had built the Archangel Network, which consisted of Satellites that were placed around the earth. He used those Sattelites to enhance his own psychic abilities and spread fear all over the earth and keep the Humans from fighting back.
The Doctor, Martha Jones and Captain Jack Harkness tried to stop the Master, but failed. The Master captured the Doctor & Jack. Martha was the only one to escape. All alone she set out to travel the earth and fullfill the Doctor's plan to spread hope and give instructions on what to do to help the Doctor overthrow the Master.
Martha travelled the planet for a whole year and met many people. Several of them helped her to flee from the Masters troops and spread her word.
After one year Martha went back to England and let the Master capture her. Then she told him what she had done and the Doctor's plan was set into motion. All over the world people stood up at the same time and thought about the Doctor. That combined with the Masters Archangel network, into which the Doctor had managed to wire himself with his psychic abilities, gave the Doctor enough power to overthrow the Master. In the meantime Jack destroyed the Paradox Machine, which resulted in time reversing itself. The whole year in which the Master reigned earth never happened. The only people who remember that year are the ones on the Masters ship.
Thus Martha remembers what happened. She remembers all the people she met while travelling the world and knows how brave they were. When trying to find people to work for Torchwood US she thinks about the people who helped her and decides to try and find some of them to offer them a job.

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer:
BtvS is a show about Buffy Summers, her family and friends. Buffy is a slayer, a girl chosen to fight vampires, demons and other evil creatures. She gets help from her watcher, her friends and later other slayers. Buffy lives in Sunnydale, a small town near Los Angeles, California, which is built over a Hellmouth. The Hellmouth attracts evil creatures like a magnet, making sure that Buffy has a lot to do.

Faith became a slayer at the age of 15 and started to fight vampires, demons and other evil cretures. After accidentally killing a human she mistook for a vampire Faith lost her way for a while. She didn't know how to deal with her mistake and convinced herself that she didn't care, which turned her evil.
However eventually Faith could no longer live with herself and went to the police, admitting her crimes.
After 3 years in jail Faith broke out to help a friend. Then she rejoined the fight against evil and helped former friends to stop an apocalypse and seal the hellmouth in Sunnydale.

After the hellmouth in Sunnydale was closed Faith went with the others to Cleveland, where another Hellmouth was located. There they opened a school for new slayers.
Faith helped train new slayers and continued to fight evil.
If there was supernatural activity in other cities Faith sometimes went there to take care of it. On one of those trips she met Spencer Reid and had a one-night stand with him, before finding out that he was a FBI agent.
About 3 years after Sunnydale was destroyed (and thus the end of the show 'Buffy, the Vampire Slayer') a woman called Martha Jones showed up and asked Faith to join Torchwood US.

When the Master took over Faith was in Boston hunting down a nest of vampires. There she joined a resistance movement and met Spencer Reid and Eli Wallace. She and Spencer fell in love.
When Martha Jones came to Boston the resistance saved her from one of the Masters troops, gave her a place to stay, promised to spread her stories and eventually helped her to find a ship that would bring her back to Europe.

Faith never had a real relationship, only short affairs and one night stands. She secretly wishes to find someone to have a real relationship with, but would never admit that.
Faith prefers men, but is open-minded enough to occasionally have some fun with women.

Deep inside Faith is a caring and loving person, but she rarely lets anyone see it. She was hurt too often and thus doesn´t easily let people in.
Faith usually comes off as a tough person with a bit of an attitude, and that is exactly how Faith likes to be seen.

Charmed is a show about witches who use their powers to fight evil and protect innocents. The main characters are the Halliwell sisters, their friends and love interests.

For about 3 years they fought demons, warlocks and other evil creatures and tried to save innocent people.

In season 3's finale episode 'All Hell Breaks Loose' it wasn't Prue that died, but her sisters. After the demon Tempus changed back time Prue and Piper were attacked by the demon Shax. When Leo finally made it back from the Underworld Piper was already dead. But he could heal Prue.
Phoebe never made it back from the Underworld. She was killed by demons before Cole could manage to get her to safety.
2 years have passed since Phoebe and Piper died, in which Prue tried repeatedly to bring them back (but failed) and went after demons and other supernatural creatures with an immense need for revenge.

Prue met Martha Jones in San Francisco, where she helped her hide from the Masters troops and eventually got her out of the city.

At the beginning of Charmed Prue met her former High School boyfriend Andy again and they restarted their relationship. First they had a lot of problems because Prue didn't tell him that she was a witch and continued to lie to him about where she went when she was out fighting demons. They even broke up again because of it. After a while however Andy found out what Prues secret was and tried to help her in any way he could. They were finally back together when Andy was killed by a demon.
After that Prue only had some short-lived relationships and affairs. She didn't really let herself fall for anyone again, as losing Andy had hurt too badly.

Prue is a strong-willed person who tends to take charge of things. She is a natural leader and rather good at planning things. However sometimes she can be a little over-confident and get herself into trouble.

After his death Leo was offered the chance to become a whitelighter - a sort of guardian angel for witches and future whitelighters. He accepted and spent the next decades helping people.
When the Charmed Ones got their powers back Leo became their Whitelighter and fell in love with Piper Halliwell. As he was forbidden to be with Piper the two of them went through ups and downs, but eventually got married.

After Piper and Phoebe's death Leo was devastated and stayed away from Prue as much as possible to not be reminded of Piper even more. If Prue really needs him he comes to help, but never stays long.

Criminal Minds is a show about a team of FBI agents and the cases they work on. The team is the BAU (= Behavioral Analysis Unit), which is specialised in trying to think like their suspects and solve cases by analysing suspect bahavior.

Spencer graduated from High School at the age of 12. At the age of 21 he had 3 PhD's (in Mathematics, Chemistry and Engineering) and 2 BAs (in Psychology and Sociology), and started working for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit.
While on the job Spencer one day got gidnapped, tortured and drugged by a serial killer with multiple personalities. Afterwards he starts to have a drug problem, but eventually deals with it and goes to support group meetings for addicts in law enforcement.

One night Spencer met Faith in a bar and they had a one-night stand at his place. The next morning she disappeared, but Spencer didn't manage to forget her. A few months later, while looking through FBI files, Spencer found out that Faith is a wanted fugitive.
After a particularly horrible job in LA (episode 6.01) Spencer came home to find a woman waiting for him. She said that her name was Martha Jones and that she had a job for him. At first Spencer declined, but then started to wonder if it wasn't time for a new job. He had seen enough horrible crimes already and decided to at least listen to Martha's offer.

When the Master took over Spencer was in Boston on a job and joined a resistance movement together with the remaining members of his team (some were killed by Toclafane). While living with the resistance Spencer became best friends with Eli Wallace and met Faith Lehane, who became his girlfriend. Together with the resistance Spencer helped Martha Jones when she came to Boston.

Spencer never really had a relationship. He usually is very shy and awkward around women. The closest thing to a relationship he had was a bit of a romance with the TV starlet, Lila Archer, who he protected from a serial killer. After his job was done they however went their separate ways and didn't meet again.

Spencer is a rather shy young man who isn't very confident around other people. Due to his high intelligence ne never really had friends during his childhood and was often teased and bullied. Working for the FBI however helped him to gain a little confidence.

Doctor Who/Torchwood:
Doctor Who is a show about an alien, the Doctor, who travels through time and space in his TARDIS and picks up people he likes while doing so. Together the Doctor and his companions solve mysteries, fight aliens and stop invasions.
Torchwood is a Spin-Off show of Doctor Who, centered around Jack Harkness, a former companion of the Doctor.
Torchwood is an organisation founded by Queen Victoria in 1879, after she met the Doctor, his companion and an alien life form that resembled a werewolf. Having become aware of extraterrestrial life the queen decided that the human race had to be armed and ready for future attacks. Thus Torchwood is an organisation specialized in dealing with alien phenomena and protecting the earth.
Captain Jack Harkness became leader of Torchwood 3, which is located in Cardiff, in 2000.

Abandoned by the Doctor and Rose Jack tried to find them again and went to Cardiff where he joined Torchwood and eventually became their leader.
Later Jack was reunited with the Doctor and his new companion Martha Jones. They travelled together for a while and fought the Master. Afterwards Jack decided to go back to Torchwood and continued to protect earth against alien threats.
After loosing 3 of his team members, including his boyfriend Ianto Jones, and being forced to sacrifice his own grandson to save millions of other children Jack decided to leave Torchwood and earth.

In Torchwood's 3rd season Jack mentioned that Martha Jones was on her honeymoon. For the sake of the concept of my show this never happened. In my AU world Martha did not get married and Jack never talked about that.
Jack spent about 10 years travelling the universe until he finally managed to live with himself and what he had done enough to return to earth. He planned to go back to Cardiff to a few weeks after he left but accidentally ended up in America. There he met Martha Jones, who just started to build her own branch of Torchwood. Since he went too far back in time Jack couldn't go to Cardiff because his younger self still lived there. So Jack decided to join Marthas american Torchwood branch instead.

Jack spent 'the year that never was' on board the Masters ship as a prisoner, where he was tortured and killed repeatedly.

Jack has had a lot of relationships and was even married at least once. But he usually has one-night stands and affairs, because he prefers not to get too attached, since he doesn't age like normal humans and sooner or later will lose everyone.

Jack generally is a cheerful and funny person. He always has a story to tell and manages to charm most people. However due to having lived so long and having lost so many people, Jack is also a very sad and sometimes even depressed person. That he manages to even still have fun and enjoy himself shows how strong he is.

Jenny was created by a progenation machine, which used the Doctors DNA to instantly create a mentally programmed young adult. This was done by Humans who were at war with a race called Hath and needed more soldiers.
At first all Jenny knew and did was fight and kill. But the more time she spent with the Doctor the more she learned. Eventually she realized that she didn't have to kill; she had a choice.
As she learned and evolved the Doctor started to accept Jenny as his daughter and invited her to travel with him. But then she was shot protecting her father and died in his arms.
Thinking that Jenny was gone the Doctor left.
But a bit later Jenny woke up again. She did not regenerate like other Time Lords, but seemed to exhale regeneration energy.
Jenny then stole a shuttle and left the planet, intending to have some adventures of her own.

For the sake of my show I conclude that Jenny does regenerate and heal her body, but does not change her appearance, since she never learned how.
Jenny travelled the universe for a while, always hoping to find her father. She then managed to come across a vortex manipulator and travelled to earth in the 21st century, where her fathers companions were from.
Shortly after her arrival Jenny is reunited with Martha and joins Torchwood US while waiting for her father to show up one day.

After almost a year of adventures they met Jack Harkness and travelled through time to the end of the Universe. There they met the Master who stole the TARDIS and went back in time to take over the earth.
By traveling the earth for a year Martha helped save the planet from the Master.
Afterwards Martha left the Doctor and started to work for UNIT, an american organisation similar to Torchwood.
However after UNIT asked Martha to destroy the earth to save Humanity from suffering in a Dalek attack she quit her job.

At the end of 'the year that never was' Martha met Tom Milligan who fell for her and even sacrificed himself to save her life. When time reversed itself Martha went to find Tom and started a relationship with him. They even got engaged. It isn't known how their relationship ended, but it did, since Martha eventually ended up married to someone else on Doctor Who. For the sake of my 'show' Martha and Tom broke up because they hardly ever saw eachother due to their jobs.

After having absorbed the time vortex and becoming Bad Wolf Rose changed. Even though it took her a while to figure it out Rose still has some of Bad Wolf inside of her and thus has abilities like healing, dividing/reforming atoms and gets glimpses of the past and future.
canon backstory:
When she was 19 years old Rose became the 9th Doctors companion and traveled with him for about a year. Together they met Jack Harkness and all three of them started to fight a Dalek army in the year 200100.
Not seeing a chance to win against them the Doctor sent Rose back home in the TARDIS. But she couldn't stay home while the Doctor and Jack were in danger, so she looked into the heart of the TARDIS, absorbed the time vortex and was changed into Bad Wolf, and all powerfull being. Returning to the future Bad Wolf destroyed the Daleks and brought Jack back to life. Then the power became too much for Roses human body. The Doctor took it out of her and into himself, which killed him. Then he regenerated into his 10th form.
Rose then travelled another year with the 10th Doctor before getting trapped in an alternate reality with her family. She tried for years to come back and eventually managed. Once reunited with the Doctor and Jack she helped them and other companions to fight the Daleks once more. Afterwards she hoped to travel with the Doctor again, but he brought her back to the alternate reality and left her there with a half-human 'copy' of himself.

After being trapped in the alternate reality again Rose felt betrayed and sad. Even though the half-human Doctor told her that he loved her and she had kissed him, Rose wasn't sure what to make of him. She loved the Doctor; but the real Doctor had abandoned her.
It took Rose a while, but eventually she realized that the half-human Doctor had not abandoned her, loved her and was right there with her. They started a relationship and were about to get married when he was killed in an alien attack.
Rose was devastated and started to go after aliens with a need for revenge.
Some time later she was killed and found out that she, like Jack, couldn't die. That made her even angrier, as the Doctor had left her with the half-human version of himself because they apparently were both mortal.
Shortly after she died for the first time Rose learned that at least part of Bad Wolf must still be inside of her, because she started to develop abilities she used to have as Bad Wolf. In stressfull situations and when she was angry Rose accidentally devided objects into their atoms. She also managed to heal her mother who had an accident.
Rose then tried to move on with her life while working on controling her abilities.
Then, one day Rose went on a job for Torchwood and found a crack in the air. As she stepped closer the crack swallowed her and Rose ended up back in her own reality. Even though Rose didn't know how, she had closed the crack behind her and was once more stuck.
After having found out that she was in America Rose met Sam and Dean Winchester who were on a hunt (Supernatural season 2). She helped them and felt an immediate connection with Sam. Travelling with the two hunters Rose and Sam got closer and kissed. But after that Sam started to be distant and pushed her away.
Feeling rejected once again Rose got angry and had a huge fight with Sam, after which they went their separate ways.
Unsure about what to do now Rose first thought about looking for Jack. But then she realized that she arrived in this reality over a year before she left the last time. Meeting Jack now would probably mean crossing her own timeline, which could endanger the whole world. So Rose decided to stay in America and settled down in San Francisco.
Over a year later Sam called out of the blue and asked to meet her. Rose agreed and gave him her address.
Once there Sam told her that Dean was dead and went to hell. Even though she and Sam had not departed on the best of terms Rose still cared about him and could not bare the thought of Dean being in hell. Together they went to Deans grave and Rose tapped into Bad Wolfs power to bring Dean back. Then she collapsed.
Due to Dean's escpae from hell a lot of demons soon appeared and attacked. Rose was still too weak to help Sam and Dean fight them and it looked as if they were about to lose. But then they suddenly became help from Martha Jones and her newly assembled team. Afterwards Martha recruited all three of them.

Rose didn't meet Martha during that year, so it is unclear what she did during that time..
relationships/sexuality:
Rose was in a relationship with Mickey Smith when she first met the Doctor, but left him behind in a heartbeat. Even though she never actually broke up with Mickey, Rose flirted with other men, like Jack Harkness.
When the Doctor regenerated and Rose felt like she had lost him she realized that she was in love with the Doctor. As she continued to travel with him her feelings grew even stronger.
After she was trapped in an alternate reality the Doctor managed to find a way to say goodbye to Rose by projecting a kind of hologram into her reality. Rose then told him that she loved him. The Doctor started to respond, but disappeared before finishing his sentence. Thus Rose didn't know if he felt the same way she did.
Reunited with the Doctor she confronted him and the half-human Doctor and asked them how his sentence would have ended. The Doctor answered with: "Does it need saying?". The half-human Doctor whispered in her ear, apparently telling her that he loved her, because she kissed him afterwards. As the two of them kissed the Doctor left, leaving Rose to start a relationship with the half-human Doctor.

Rose is a cheerfuly person, who feels excited at the prospect of adventures. However after being trapped in another reality and losing the Doctor her cheerfulness vanished mostly, turning her into a more grown up and sader version of herself.

Due to having grown up close to a crack in time and space Amy had the ability to manipulate the newly created reality that was generated after the Doctor closed all cracks in the universe. She managed to bring back her parents, Rory and the Doctor who had all been erased by time energy.

Amy helped him save the earth from aliens together with her boyfriend. Then the Doctor disappeared for another 2 years before coming back and asking her to travel with him. Amy accepted and after a while they picked up Amys fiancee Rory as well.

He preferred a quiet normal life and didn't like the way Amy acted around the Doctor. However about two years later, during Rory's stag night, the Doctor showed up again and told Rory to come with him and Amy. From that time on he traveled with them, because he knew that Amy loved it.

The Doctor is a very complex person. He gets excited easily, enjoys travelling and adventures and usually seems to be in a great mood. But deep down he often is very sad and lonely.
His personalities however vary slightly with his regenerations, since he becomes a different man each time.

Martha met Bo during her travels. While on the run from the Masters soldiers Bo killed one of them by kissing him. Bo then told Martha about herself and the two became friends. Later Bo stayed back holding up the Masters soldiers so Martha could escape and save the world.

Bo didn’t really have relationships before she found out that she was fae because she thought that she would kill anyone she was with. Afterwards she had a few one-nights tands with fae, an affair with lauren and a relationship with Dyson.

Bo is a witty person who has learned to take care of herself. She doesn’t trust people easily and believes to be a ‘freak’. Because of that she often feels sad and lonely.
