We Found a Dog

My children found a dog. It followed them home. I've said more about this elsewhere on Facebook and Flickr and here: http://loveinthesuburbs.com/wordpress/celebrating-the-winter-solstice. FWIW, I have heard, from other people who have pet allergies that if they live with a particular animal for a while they become somewhat immune to that animal's allergens. I don't know exactly why, and of course this may not be true for you, but maybe said dog won't make you sick forever?

I've had cats all my life, and have grown quite allergic to animals in the last decade or so, after I adopted a pair of kittens.

And it has not gotten better...

I'd say, if you have any qualms, tell the family you have to take care of Mom first. This is first priority.

Also you may also be chief caretaker for the family as well, so another reason you have to priority yourself, no one else is doing it. You don't have to be a softie on this.

When we married back in '06, and started trying to have a family, the cats became barncats. It had to happen anyway.

Take care of Mom!
