I'm super-sorry if I made you feel pressured to post. I just didn't know what your process was, and you had mentioned being almost done with 56 a few weeks back, so I wanted to alert you to my impending separation from the volume. (And I do miss having it while reading this summary. After 57, I will resume lagging slightly behind your posting.)

Hannyabal is not unsympathetic here

*nod**nod* But I feel like Hannyabal's adherence to Law is different than, say, CP-9's adherence to Justice. Like, his is both sympathetic (for the people!) and logically consistent (everybody in Impel Down is a criminal). Whereas "justice" is more of an abstract ideal, and in enforcing it, CP-9 go beyond the bounds of justice…or something like that.

I'm thinking this is supposed to be a double entendre, because don't seme and uke (as verbs) come from karate terms for attack and guard?

Blackbeard is weird and fascinating.

Blackbeard thanks him, though he says that any man who fears death is a fool. Live for the moment, that's his motto.He keeps saying these things like his Chaos personified, and yet we can see he's all about carefully laid plans, too - yet totally fine with improvising when he needs to. And he says it's no good to fear death yet he can be cautious and even cowardly in a way (but never to the point where it's a detriment to his ambition), and his game is for the very highest of stakes regardless of how many opponents he makes. The guy is full of contradictions. And he's a D, too
