While I firmly believe in gay rights, I hate this sort of emotional blackmail and refuse to give in to it, so that it doesn't work and therefore doesn't spread. :)

I have to concur. I firmly support gay rights, but couching such a request in such absolute terms strikes me as counterproductive. The implication is that anyone who fails to re-post the message (for whatever reason) hates gay rights, and that's simply not true.
