My new house

Moving sucks. Everything about it is a pain in the ass. The only fun part of moving is shopping for a new house. I hate shopping in general, but house hunting is the one exception to that. I like the back decks and the way the living area and kitchen "flow" into each other. It's a little farther to your work, but it's not like you'll have to worry about traffic.

You're probably right that there won't be much traffic in that area even during rush hour. I was there on a weekend, and it took much less time to get to the plant from there than Google maps estimated. I'm more concerned about the distance. If I go to work 5 times per week, that's an extra 2800 miles per year. That's about an extra $500/year in gas, plus I would have to get a higher mileage lease for my next car. That would eat into the $30k I'd save by buying the cheaper house. Also, house #1 has been on the market for almost a year, so I'm thinking they might take a lower offer. This is such a tough decision!

I like #1. The interior is nice. #2 has the disadvantage of having a crawlspace. Maybe the crawlspace for #2 is OK, but my crawlspace is absolutely disgusting.
