Missing pets

This morning I was awoken by a cat screeching from just outside the front door. I went outside and saw my kitten underneath the stairs outside and some other cat was trying to attack her. It was sad. She looked scared and ran around the side of the house

my one cat was indoor his whole life except for the odd escape, he was even gone 10 days once but I got him back, though much thinner.(and he was only 7lbs to start with)
Leave a little food or a treat near any entrance they can get in and some on the ledge if it is a window.
Walk slowly around the house to leave a fresh scent trail to lure him home.
Sit outside near the window you think he got out, read a book or something. He may come up, but he will be VERY wary
