I'm not very much into clothing, generally. I consider them mostly functional, and often unnecessary. Their main functions, as I see it, are: 1) make or keep me comfortable; 2) keep other people from hassling me more than necessary. From that view, the idea that I must wear anything, especially any particular thing, just to make someone else happy ( Read more... )

A bathrobe is an excellent investment for letting the cats in/out. It might cause your neighbors to suspect that you're sitting in the house naked all day, but whatever.

That's what I keep reminding myself, but I never seem to get around to it. Probably because I buy most of my clothes at thrift stores and they almost never have those.

I'm not sure I'd buy a thrift store bathrobe. Someone else has been in it naked.

For some people, that would be a major enticement. To each their own, I say. But I suppose that's the reason I never see them there, same as undies, bras, and socks. Hats, though, no problem. Go figure.

For that matter, how about all that upholstered furniture?

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I also like very loose clothing. I don't generally like the sensation of most things against my skin to begin with (most things, mind you; I definitely like some things against my skin), and anything tight is usually even more uncomfortable. I've never been a fan of tight clothing of any kind, though I admit something like a smart jacket can make you feel smarter when it's tight -- but not more comfortable.

I went barefoot a lot when I was young, and I'm trying to get back into that, in various ways. I used to have really tough feet.

I also lived in a semi-nudist household for awhile. I've got mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I enjoyed the sense of freedom and liberation; on the other, it's not actually as much fun as it sounds. Like threesomes, it's a bit overrated.
