My dad thinks hackers should have their hands cut off, if not outright sentenced to death by firing squad.

Yeah, if that were going on with my computer, I would have likely given up around the second or third step, and chalked it up to running Vista. (Fucking Vista, man.)

:( That sucks. You could get a Mac. I was driven kicking and screaming from Microsoft/PCs but now I love my MacBook.

I finally solved this problem with the help of Hiren's BootCD V9.9. It's a CD you can put in your computer and boot from without starting your Windows install, in case your hard disk is busted or your Windows is busted. You can download it from many fine sites by just googling "Hiren's BootCD".
