i also remember something a friend told me: he was playing soccer with his friend and his friend's dad at a company picnic. most of the employees were engineers and one guy kept getting halfway closer to the goal each time he kicked the ball... which led the guy's dad to say, "Hey, if you're cutting the distance in half each time, theoretically you'll never make it in!"
