This looks very cool. How old is your son? Mine is 7 and I'm having much the same trouble. We've had success with Tiny Titans (sort of a media tie-in, in that they tie in with the DC universe, but there isn't a tv show, and there are no toys that I know of), despite his almost total ignorance of the DC universe.
