Familiar with these novel series?

Sep 16, 2010 23:02

I stopped myself from the temptation of buying a new book until I attend the book fair... and I'll be doing that this Saturday! But the books that I want to try out is freakin' long. Buying them all would make me a beggar x_X

So I have a favor, if you're familiar with any of these books, tell me if they're something you recommend or something you ( Read more... )

I was confused on which novel series by L'Engle to try first: time travel (Murray) or unicorns (Austin). But hhhmm... since many have assured that the Murray one is very good, I'd go for that first. Thanks =D

I knew that it's impossible for you not to be familiar with any of these xD

- Amulet of Samarkand! - I must prioritize then *_* I keep on seeing the third book.... looks like it's going to be a tough hunt =(

- Eragon - That's sad x_x I like the blue-ness of the book and the movie seemed cool *not seen it though*

- A Wrinkle in Time - looks like another must-read for me~ I think I should have bought it at once when I found it >_<

- Earthsea - it was made a movie? o_o and it's old?! LOLz... I actually thought it was pretty new, haha! Hmmm.. must be good enough to have a movie adaptation then....

- The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo - there's also a movie of this??? o_o I also thought this was new... hhhmmm.. will see for myself I guess~

Thanks so much xD Yaaay!

- Eragon: Yeah I really wished I could like it. The actor for Eragon is really cute and the movie itself is very pretty visually (I downloaded it and started watching it for the actor hurhur) but I had just been so let down by the book. You could always try reading a bit of it in the bookstore? O:

- Earthsea: it's about... nearly 30 years old by now! and I lied it wasn't a movie I was thinking of it was a mini-series, but Le Guin didn't like it xD And Studio Ghibli did a rendition of it, but it was Miyazaki's son not Miyazaki himself and so it didn't have the same flare (at least, that's what I heard I never saw it).

- Dragon Tattoo: It... came out over here like a few months ago. I think the book itself is fairly recent (within the last ten years?

8D Not a problem ♥ I hope you enjoy whichever ones you pick! fufufu

I'm a Piers Anthony fan, but i'm sure you must know of him,, and just don't need any more books from him. For example his Xanth series (1977-present). My fav is the first in the series 'A Spell of Chameleon"

I'd recommend 'The Last Unicorn' by Peter S. Beagle as well...
'The Eyes of the Dragon' by Stephan King, the only book by him i've manged to read without boredom. XD

cuz apparently i only like older books.. or something XD
I don't read many either, but when i do can't put the damn thing down... >.>'''

The Xanth series seems too long for me x_x Other recommended novels by this author? Too bad, the one you mentioned seemed nice *just read the plot*

'The Last Unicorn' by Peter S. Beagle = I already have it and I think it's gonna melt from my stares xD Teehee

'The Eyes of the Dragon' by Stephan King - I haven't tried that Stephen King book. I liked what I've read from him so far, so most likely I'll like this one too xD

Thanks so much~ (It doesn't matter to me if it's old or new... only the length troubles me [like more than 10! x_x])

Ah! Phew... I don't think I could do it x_x
The first one would be difficult to find =( Any recommendation of a recent/shorter novel of the author?

The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #1) by Jonathan Stroud
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (Wicked Years, #1) by Gregory Maguire
I'd highly reccamend both of these series! Bartimaeus is a lot of fun and Wicked is just amazing.

I've also heard Earthsea and Graceling are good, but wouldn't know myself.

Eragon is...meh.

NOTED *_* THANK YOU =3

Hmmm... maybe it was a good decision that I didn't think of watching the Eragon movie nor buying the book yet. I like the blue cover though.... ahaha
