just re-watched Casanova...thoughts?

WHY Russell T. Davies must you insist on ripping my heart out and squeezing it like a stress ball?! HONESTLY. I'm always fine until it gets to the end where it's just Rose Byrne and Peter O'Toole and she's telling him that Henriette sent her to look after him and just...GOD. D: The two of them are just phenomenal in that scene - especially Rose. I ( Read more... )

I love the duel too. And when they're sitting there chatting and Casanova chips in randomly with "You're just dying to kiss me..." LOL.

I've not actually seen Catch Me If You Can :P perhaps I should

I've only watched it once and don't want to ever again, because OMG AGAIN SO UNFAIR THEY WERE SEPARATED FOR MORE THAN 4O YEARS AND NEVER SAW EACH OTHER AGAIN AND EVIL WON. I WANTED TO KILL GRIMALDI, UGH. It's just I have this oversensitive notion of justice and I think all people should get what they deserve and Grimaldi sure as hell didn't deserve Henrietta.

I love British TV, they just seem to circulate the same dozen actors for everything
Hee, me,too, I love to play game "Spot a British actor I've already seen" in endless period-dramas I watch or Doctor Who XD

Maybe he didn't deserve her but he did love her which makes it all a lot more complicated :(

Hahaha, me too!

Nah, if he really loved her and not just himself he would have let her go, otherwise he's just a selfish bastard.

Fair call :P

What's that saying? If you love someone, let them go and if they come back to you keep them. If they don't, they were never yours in the first place and it wasn't meant to be.

You'd be surprised on how many people on Casanova also made an appearance on Doctor Who ;)

But I love Peter O'Toole on Casanova, I can actually imagine he was a casanova when he was younger. David... perfect, you can feel his heart breaking when Henriette leaves him.

Oh yes. There was also whosiface google who played Blon Slitheen. I rediscovered that all over again when I watched it :)

Peter O'Toole is just generally spectacular and then to have David playing his younger self...GAH. Amazing.

I just finished watching Casanova for the first time yesterday...OMG I was about in tears at the end! I'm kind of curious exactly how many women Casanova had in bed, (and how many times DT had his pants around his ankles.) There were SO many funny one-liners in there, I must, must go back to watch it again!

It's very good - I've cried every time so far! I remember the first time I watched it and I'd only just started getting into Tennant's Who eps. From there on I was just going nuts trying to find stuff he's been in because I loved his work so much :P

Well, that and he spends half of Casanova with, as you said, his trousers around his ankles XD that was kind of awesome.

Gawd, I cannot watch the end without bawling.

On the plus side, Shaun Parkes as Rocco is just made of win! :)

I know right? Me too!

Oh is that his name?! I love him in that! I'm sure he's been in something else I've seen too, he seems very familiar.
