SUMMARY: This story takes place after “From Erica with Love”. If you haven’t read it yet, you might want to as some things in this fic won’t make sense otherwise.  This story is about Callie’s and Erica’s life in San Francisco after leaving SGH.

AUTHOR’S NOTE:  Lots of thanks and hugs to superfy_me  for being an awesome beta!!
AUTHOR'S NOTE 2: Addison is in town to help Callie and Erica make a little Torres-Hahn. I have no idea how procedures for gay couples work outside of Belgium. Here we can use the sperm of an anonymous donor to make a baby. I don't know if that's possible elsewhere. Also I hope I wrote Addison a bit into character, this was the first time that I used her in one of my fics. Hope you enjoy it :)!

“Addison, hey, it’s me, Callie, how’s it going?” Callie excitedly said over the phone.  She had missed Addison.

“Hey Torres, I’m fine, how are you? And how’s Erica?” Addison answered.

“We are fine. San Francisco is really good for us. The hospital is great, even if we are both very busy.”

“Well, that’s the life of a doctor, always too busy,” Addison chuckled.

“I know Addie, I know, but sometimes it’s a bit too much. Look, I wanted to ask you something. Erica and I want to have a baby and we want you to do it.”

There was silence on the other side of the line.

“Addie… Addison… Montgomery… are you still there?” Callie worriedly called out to her friend.

“Cal, last time I checked I was still a woman and you still need a man to get pregnant…”

“Addie, you got it all wrong. We want you to inseminate me with donor sperm. We want to have a baby.”

“Oh… oh… sorry, didn’t get that right away. That’s awesome you want a baby Cal. I’m so excited. Of course I’ll help you and do it.  I really need to get away from work for a while anyway. Things aren’t what they used to be at the clinic and I really wanna see where you live in San Francisco. When do you want to start?” Addison excitedly said.

“Whenever you want, no rush.”

“I’ll call the clinic and I’ll call you back then to tell you when I’ll be coming over.”

“Great. Thanks a lot Addie, I’m so excited to see you again. I’ve missed you,” Callie smiled.

“I missed you too Cal.”

Callie put down the phone and looked at Erica. “She’ll do it.  She’ll call back to tell when she’s coming over.”

“Awesome.  Wait, she’s coming here? She doesn’t have to, I mean, we can go to LA,” Erica said.

“Apparently things at the clinic aren’t what they used to be and she could use a change of scenery.  Aren’t you in need for an OB/GYN?”

“I could use an extra pair of hands in that department.  And Addison is a world-class OB/GYN surgeon, so she would definitely be an add-on to the hospital. I’d have to discuss it with the board though and maybe you’d better ask Addison first if she’d be interested in working here.”

“Oh I’m so excited, we are going to make a baby,” Callie excitedly called out.  She closed the space between her and Erica and kissed her deeply.

Addison called them back the same day to tell them she’d be arriving at San Francisco on Monday. They told her not to book a hotel, she would stay at their place.  Callie was very excited to see her friend again. She had missed her when she had moved to LA. Phone calls weren’t the same as talking in person.

It was Sunday evening and Erica and Callie were laying in bed. They had prepared the guestroom for Addison.

“What time is her plane landing?” Erica asked her lover.

“Around 6pm. I’m picking her up at the airport. I asked Marion to leave a bit earlier and she was okay with it. I can’t wait to see her again.”

“I know honey. I’m excited too to see her. I mean, she’s the one that kind of brought us together. She saw what we had long before either one of us was aware of it. If it wasn’t for her, we’d probably still be dancing around each other,” Erica said.

“Yeah I know. We really should thank her.”

Erica turned over to Callie and put a hand on her belly. “I can’t wait till there’s a little Torres-Hahn growing in here,” she lovingly said.

“Me neither baby, me neither. I’m scared and excited at the same time.”

“What are you scared for?”

“Well, pregnancy does change your body a lot. I mean, I’ll get fat like a balloon, I’ll have the weirdest cravings, and then giving birth… Not thinking about that yet. Will you still love me when I look like a balloon and start waddling?” Callie worriedly asked.

“I’ll love you even more then. And you’ll always be beautiful to me, even if you are big as a balloon and waddling like penguin,” Erica joked.

***************************************************************************

The next day found Callie bouncing around the hospital. She couldn’t wait till it was evening to leave to pick up Addison. She had missed her so much and couldn’t wait to see her again. Also she wanted to talk to Addison about her fears of getting pregnant.

She looked at the surgical board and saw that she was scheduled for two surgeries.  She was glad, at least surgeries would take her mind of it. She hadn’t been lying to Erica when she said she was scared to get pregnant. It totally freaked her out. She wanted a baby, but she could do without the pregnancy.  She didn’t want to gain weight and get big. What if Erica didn’t find her attractive anymore and fell in love with another woman? And then she hadn’t even thought about giving birth. That has got to be painful, she thought, pushing a baby through a tiny hole. The whole thing gave her nightmares.  She was scared to talk to Erica about her fears.  Also she didn’t know any pregnant women, so she couldn’t talk to them either to try and ease her fears.  Maybe Addison could help her ease her fears.  How was she going to survive being pregnant for nine months? She wasn’t even pregnant yet and she was already freaking out.

She took a deep breath and tried to calm her breathing. She felt a presence next to her.

“Oh great,” she thought, “just what I need, Pearson wanting to know what’s wrong.”

“Good morning Dr. Torres, are you okay? You seem a bit pale,” Emma asked her.

“Good morning Dr. Pearson. I’m fine, I skipped breakfast this morning and guess that wasn’t such a good idea,” Callie lied. No way was she going to tell Pearson what was really on her mind.

“I can get you something to eat Dr. Torres, wouldn’t want you to faint during surgery,” Emma nicely said.

“I’m fine Pearson, don’t worry about it.”

Just as Emma was leaving, she smelled a familiar perfume. “Hey baby,” she greeted her lover.

“Hey, you okay? You seem a bit off. You’ve been staring at the surgical board for ten minutes. Did Pearson bother you?” Erica asked.

“I’m fine, just thinking. Pearson didn’t bother me, don’t worry.”

“What are you thinking about?”

“Being pregnant.”

“Oh… but you’re not pregnant yet.”

“I know, but still it’s on my mind,” Callie sighed.

“You want to talk about it?”

Callie nodded. “But not now, I have surgery in one hour and you have a meeting in 30 minutes. We’ll talk this evening, I promise.”

“Okay, page me if you want to talk earlier,” Erica said and she gave Callie a quick kiss on the lips.

Finally it turned 5 pm and Callie could leave the hospital to go and pick up Addison.  She quickly changed out of her scrubs and put on her street clothes.  Before leaving the hospital, she decided to drop by at Erica’s office to tell her she was leaving.  Erica had to work late this evening, she had another meeting later and wouldn’t be home before ten pm.  She quickly took the stairs to her office. She saw that the secretary had already left, so she knocked on the door.

“Come in,” she heard her lover say in her most Dr. Hahn voice.

“Hey,” she greeted Erica. She was surprised to see Emma sitting there.

“I’ll…uhm…come back later, I didn’t know you were busy,” Callie said, starting to leave Erica’s office.

“No, stay Callie. Dr. Pearson was just telling me the specialty she’d like to chose as a senior Resident,” Erica said.

“Oh… okay.”  Callie stood awkwardly in the corner of Erica’s office. She had no idea why Erica wanted her to stay. She was doing Chief business and she was only an Attending, not a Chief.

“I’d like your opinion Dr. Torres. You’ve been working a lot with Dr. Pearson on ortho cases.”

“Yes I have.” It suddenly dawned on her why Emma was here. She was telling the Chief she wanted to specialize in Ortho.  Callie hoped that Erica would overlook her dislike and her jealousy of Emma, because Emma would make a very good Orthopaedic Resident and she had been nothing but professional towards her.

“Do you think Dr. Pearson has it in her to be Ortho?”

“Yes she has,” Callie instantly answered, “Dr. Pearson has shown real interest in ortho and has proven to have a talent for it. I’d certainly recommend her for ortho, Chief.”

Erica looked at Emma. “I’ll discuss it with Dr. Lane and if she agrees, you’ll be an Orthopaedic Resident from next month on.”

“Thank you, Chief, have a nice evening.”

Emma greeted Callie on the way out.

“Sorry, I didn’t know you were busy, I just wanted to tell you I’m leaving to pick up Addison,” Callie apologized.

“Don’t worry about it. I wanted your opinion anyway about Pearson. I’ve heard from others too that she’s real good at Ortho and if Marion agrees, she’ll get the specialty, even if I don’t like the idea that she’ll be working closely with you then,” Erica sighed.

Callie went to sit on Erica’s desk. “I told you that you have nothing to be worried about, baby.”

“I know Cal, I know. Give Addison my greetings. I’ll try to be home around nine.”

“Love you.”

“Love you more.”

Callie left Erica’s office and quickly drove to the airport.  Just as she was getting to the exit gate, she spotted Addison coming through the gate.

“Addie,” she yelled over the crowd. She quickened her pace upon seeing her friend.

Addison looked up. “Cal,” she yelled back.

They ran to each other and hugged. “I can’t believe you are finally here,” Callie excitedly said, “you look great.”

“You look great too Cal. San Francisco definitely agrees with you,” Addison said.

“Come on, let’s get your bags into the car. Erica is working late this evening so we have plenty of time to catch up. Want to order in to eat?”

“Great idea, can’t wait to see where you guys live.”

“You’ll love the house Addie, it’s really beautiful.”

They chatted all the way to Callie’s house.  When Callie parked her car in the driveway, Addison let out a small cry when she saw the house. She got out of the car.

“Oh my god Callie, this is beautiful,” she exclaimed.

“Wait till you see the inside and the garden and the pool,” Callie said.

They went inside the house and Callie gave Addison the tour. Like she had thought, Addison loved the house and immediately fell in love with it. They ordered Chinese and while eating, they talked about everything that came into mind.  Callie loved how even the distance between them hadn’t changed their friendship. You couldn’t tell that they hadn’t seen each other for over a year. They talked and laughed like they saw each other every day.

“So you said things at the clinic had changed. You don’t like it there anymore?” Callie asked while eating some noodles.

“No I don’t. I actually miss working in a hospital, though logically I should prefer having my own practice. I mean, I make my own hours and make good money, but I miss the challenges of working in a hospital,” Addison sighed.

“You know you can always go back to working in a hospital Addie. You are a world known OB/GYN, you can get in anywhere you want,” Callie commented.

“I know, but the hospitals in LA don’t need me, I already checked those, all the positions are filled and I really don’t want to move to another city where I don’t know anyone,” Addison sadly said.

“You could work here Addie. I think there’s a position open as an OB/GYN at the hospital. You’d have to ask Erica to be sure.”

“Really Cal? That would be awesome,” Addison excitedly said.

Callie heard the front door open. She glanced at the clock, nine thirty. Erica stepped into the kitchen.

“Callie, Addison,” she greeted them with a smile.

“Erica, you look great,” Addison said while hugging Erica.

“Thanks, so do you. So how’s LA?” Erica asked while taking her coat off.

“LA has had better days,” she sighed.

“You want some wine, baby,” Callie asked her lover.

Erica nodded.

“You know Erica, Addie was just saying that she misses working in a hospital. Didn’t you mention something about having a position for an OB/GYN?” Callie told Erica.

“Really? I always thought private practices were better then working in a hospital,” Erica said to Addison.

“Yeah well, so did I, but apparently it’s not really my thing,” she sighed.

“The OB/GYN at the hospital retires next year. I can talk to the board tomorrow if you’re interested in the position,” Erica said while sipping her whine.  She hoped the board would approve of Addison.  It would be great if Addison would be part of her staff. Not only was she a great doctor, she was a good friend too.

“That would be great, Erica, thank you.”

“My pleasure.”

They talked some more till Callie couldn’t stifle her yawns any longer.

“I really should go to bed, can’t stop yawning.  I have an early surgery tomorrow but I should be off around 3,” Callie yawned.

“Going to bed, that’s a great idea,” Addison agreed and she got up from the couch.

“You could come to the hospital tomorrow morning with me Addison,” Erica said, “I can show you around and if you like what you see, I can talk to the board.”

“Okay, what time do you leave?”

“Eight.”

“I’ll be ready. Thanks. Goodnight Cal, goodnight Erica.”

“Goodnight Addison,” they said in unison.
