I assumed that the warboys are awaited by Immortan Joe. He tells Nux that if he succeeds in killing Furiosa, Immortan Joe will carry Nux through the gates of Walhalla in his (Joe's) own arms. It suggests to me that Joe is a sort of liminal being in the context of his religion - he is their god on earth, and can exist in both the spiritual and physical at once.
