I'd recommend at least trying it. You've got nothing to lose.

I know a few people who have different blogs for different interests - writing, photography, race discussion - it tends to be a handy way of attracting other folks into the same stuff, and so broadening your worldview at the same time.

Ha, thanks for the encouragement! I am thinking of something of the literary persuasion. Maybe short stories or poetry that I have never shared. Maybe someone will want to publish me, haha. Ahh pipedreams :)

Well, can't hurt to give it a go. There have been people picked up from the 'net. It's rare but it happens.

Having a separate blog or LJ for it also means you can, over time, probably build a small team of people to give opinions, beta read, and critique your work. One of the hard things about writing is taking the criticism, but good criticism is worth it's weight in gold, as it teaches you so much.
