Anyhoo, feet, yeah, I do hip to ankle, ankle to ball of foot (no heel) and ball to toe. That covers most things. Then you can do groups with different pivots (heel, toe) and driven keys for all the weird motions if you want to.
cool! yes, that sounds sensible. Sensible virtual shoes.
I first learned to rig feet from a guy who worked z-up 'cause he was an industrial designer... it was a very arcane setup (and in PowerAnimator, so much nastier to do) that was clearly the result of much overthinking.
