Oh, I hate when you get those sorts of dreams-- the ones that could be turned into wonderful stories, except that all of the details just vanish when you've been awake for more than two seconds. >_< It would be kinder not to remember them at all, so that you don't realize what you're missing.
Dreams, hm? Let's see. A lot of mine include recurring themes (flying, or rather gliding with my arms out; finding secret passageways; hiding from pursuers or sneaking up on someone) or places (the basement of my parents' house; the laneway of my grandparents' farm; the main-floor bathroom of my old high school). Sometimes the two are combined-- I'll be escaping from a house and some sort of bad guy, run through the field to my grandparents' and find some path behind the garage leading back into the woods. Or something. And usually when I'm trying to run, I just can't somehow, I end up taking these little ineffectual steps and not really going anywhere
( ... )
YAY thank you, that's actually very helpful. I like the snakes particularly. As an artist, you wouldn't think that creative imagery/surrealism would be what gives me trouble with this nano- just making things up should be the easiest part of the whole thing- but it's still the one part I keep getting stuck on. So don't mind me if I steal some of your dreams. :-)
Those story-dreams seem to be the only interesting ones that I have anymore. The rest are all completely boring, like going to work and talking to people and entirely mundane. I 've always been tempted to study lucid dreaming, just so i could either make mine more interesting, or remember those cool ones on the rare chances that they do come.
Steal away! If I remember any other tidbits, I'll pass them on.
Heh, I've considered being hypnotized into remembering my dreams on more than one occasion. It can be fascinating, the sheer amount of random that my subconscious mind can string together... perhaps a little worrisome at times too. ;) But hey, at least I've never dreamed about burning anyone alive, like one of my old roommates!
