I love this. I love it lots. The set-up (three stages) is great, and really like how you carry Tyrol's feelings about Sharon through the story (and show how they're changing). Tyrol's slight feelings of inadequacy are really well done, and that last paragraph, and his sense of being second-best, is great. In particular, this:

when Tyrol was being really honest with himself, he knew that he was second in his relationship with Sharon. Second to her flying, second to her job, which she loved in a way that he couldn’t even begin to touch.

And it's particularly cool because he doesn't know why he's second best. It makes me wonder how things started to come together/make sense when he found out she was a cylon.

The story really sets a cool angle on the Helo-Tyrol on-screen tension, too.

The second section, them drinking together and starting a fight, makes me grin. I can totally picture it!

Awww, thanks! *blushes lots* I am glad that you liked it! I love these two together, but I always have the most difficult time trying to get the set up right so that their relationship doesn't seem so "WTF?" out of the blue.

The second section, them drinking together and starting a fight, makes me grin. I can totally picture it!

That was actually inspired by the scene where they were fighting to prevent Sharon's rape in Resurrection Ship. They just were so in tune with each other's fighting, I really wanted to have an excuse to have them kick ass on a happier occasion!

I'd never thought of that, but you're right - they seemed almost to work like they had a plan/were used to each other's fight movements. I love your explanation for that!

Have you posted this to other communities? Maybe bsg2003fics or bsg_slash?

You know, I didn't even know that there was a bsg_slash - that really makes my day! Getting ready to post it now (because RL interfered with posting it yesterday). Thanks again for your kind words!

Ooh, I really liked the structure in this fic! And you've really gotten inside the character's heads here -- very nicely done. XD

Thanks! The structure was actually borne out of necessity, because I was having one hell of a time giving the middle section an ending. It was very much of an experimental thing, so I am so estatic that it worked. Thank you very much! :-D

oh, very nice.

And as for the WTF factor you mentioned, I will point to the sheer amount of chemistry they display in the prison scenes. It's an OT3 happy place of angst!angst!angst! (that is, er, until end of S2. Then I firmly go Cally/Chief.)
